Deep space and all of its goings-on can be very stressful on the mind for most. I suggest a stress meter, which I feel would be very good for roleplay, and also give the Psych a MECHANICAL reason to exist, elevating it from just being an RP role.
How it Works
- Builds up when specific conditions are met
- Above 70% causes minor vision impairment
- 100% causes you to pass out, where you remain asleep while stress drains, only able to wake up once you reach 50% again
Causes
- Being around dead bodies (within 4 tiles of one)
- Dealing damage to a living thing
- Being around monsters/Eldritch beings/dangerous space creatures (all of these will have different stress rate increases)
- Floating in space without a jetpack
Treatments
- Cannabis (with the side effect that temporarily makes it so that you build up stress faster once the stress healing wears off)
- Rainbow cannabis has the same effects as Cannabis, but DOUBLED.
- Many other drugs can alleviate stress
- Being in the Psych office (gives the Psych a chance to roleplay with more people)
- Being hugged (very minor, but good for impromptu stress reduction)
- Staying well-fed (the more you eat, the better the treatment)
- Smoking cigarettes (minor)
- Drinking coffee (minor)
- Drinking alcohol (getting drunk will reverse the effect)
Species-specific Causes and Treatments
- Felinid: Stress caused by water spray. Stress treated by being in a pet carrier.
- Moth Person: Stressed out very quickly when in shadows/darkness. Stress rate slowed when in light.
- Vulpkanin: Stress caused by being alone (nobody within line of sight and within 10 tiles of you). Stress minorly treated by throwing a ball and/or wood.
- Arachnid: No special causes. Stress rate slows down when on a webbed tile.
- Dwarf: Not metabolizing alcohol causes stress buildup. Stress heavily reduced when thoroughly inebriated.
- Harpy: Stress caused by flying. Stress slowed when vocalizing with music.
