Role Ban or Server Ban:
Whitelist Revoked, so, server ban?
Round ID (if applicable):
I'm unsure how to look that up.
Reason for Ban:
From what I can gather from our conversation, a "soft rule break" of rule 7, and it seems that the admin in question believed my character being rude to two people was inappropriate.
What lead up to the ban:
If there's a way to review the logs of a round, I don't know how to access them, but if they are accessible on your end, I'd like to ask if they could be provided.
Events as I recall them (at this time, roughly 10 minutes after the conversation in question) were as follows.
It was my first round as a Technical Assistant. On the arrivals shuttle to the station, I took the contents of a first aid kit, so that I could do basic stabilization on myself if I were burned by shocks/fire or injured by pressure/other hazards, as my role would have me frequently in situations where those things are a present and reasonable concern to take into account for my job.
After arriving, I wandered around the station familiarizing myself with the layout. Then, I went to engineering and kitted up. I took magboots, a hardsuit, an RCD, and insulated gloves. I kept the RCD in my belt. After consulting the situation, I saw that there was a slight deficit in power being provided to the station, so I volunteered to the CE to do solars. I put the hardsuit, an oxygen tank, several sets of cable coil, and some steel in a crate. I dragged the crate with me for most of the time as I went and wired up each solar array and calibrated it to follow that round's degree/min sun rotation.
During my last set of solars, I came upon a severe water vapor leak in Medbay maints. The quantity of water vapor doubled the atmospheric pressure to 200kpa. I reported this on engineering comms. An atmospheric technician ( Peash <lastname unknown at this time> ) sarcastically replied "Water vapor, oh noooooo, water vapor". My response was to illustrate how the water vapor would be an issue; the effective decrease in oxygen (and for other races, nitrogen) saturation in the air would mean that in the event of a breach (and, during ongoing atmospherics), the added water vapor would create a hazard by making there not enough oxygen and nitrogen available in the air. As well, the water vapor heated the air slightly, which would have exacerbated this issue. I had a tiff with Peash on main comms about it after our exchange on Engineering comms, as I found it inappropriate for them to be occupying themself with running a "death cage" instead of addressing what was an active atmospheric problem.
After finishing wiring the last set of solars, I returned to engineering. I chitchatted with another engineer (or possibly an atmos tech, I don't remember their name) before the Head of Security (or possibly another head?) reported that there was a murderous energy-sword wielding monkey that we should not follow. Quickly after, there was an alert that a Space Dragon rift was being created in Cryogenics ( see: before, about the water vapor issue in medbay maints) before the station was lifted to Red Alert. The engineer I was chitchatting with quickly made a uranium spear, and I followed suit.
Then, I proceeded toward the rough area I had seen the rift declared in. I went to the bar, first, as I heard people gasping. On inspecting the air with a gas analyzer, I saw that what I was worried about had indeed become the case; as a result of the space dragon breaching some of the station's air, the concentration of oxygen was causing people to begin asphyxiating. I lacked access to the air alarm (as a TA) and no atmospheric technicians were present to address it, so I hacked the access on the air alarm and scrubbed the nitrogen for some time until the oxygen concentration was sufficient. I was unable to address the air temperature concerns, but it wasn't a dangerous temperature so I let it be.
As I begin to leave the bar, a security officer stopped to question me about the spear I was carrying. I related my concerns with the space dragon and energy sword monkey. They told me the space dragon was dead. When I asked about the monkey they whispered into their headset. The security officer then said that I was going to be left alone about the spear because of their "incompetence" (they in this situation seemingly being other people on Security comms) since they hadn't received a reply.
I responded to this with my own sarcasm. I was quite rude in the process but I turned in the spear, with a lot of to-do about how they apparently had nothing better to do than confiscate a spear from the person actually trying to fix atmospheric problems.
I was meandering around the area near Medbay, checking on the air, when oBerry messaged me about my "powergaming loadout". I was baffled, honestly, because the closest thing I found to be "powergaming" in my loadout was the spear which I had just turned in to a Security officer who was concerned with it.
oBerry and I engaged in a conversation where they were level-set in concerns about me having violated rule 7. Among the "evidence" for my powergaming was the fact that I had basic supplies for a first aid kit and an RCD.
Why you should be unbanned:
Operatively, I don't find an RCD to be part of a "powergaming loadout" when I'm playing a character in Engineering. As well, the first aid kit supplies I was carrying was specifically to stabilize myself if I were unexpectedly exposed to fire, vaccuum, or to stop bleeding if I were attacked. I think I was unfairly characterized as a powergamer throughout the conversation.
Finally, I don't think playing a rude character is a violation of any rules. I have some concern that this being cited as a black mark against me fitting in the server is a more personal concern on oBerry's part, possibly as a result of my character having been rude to a character that they have frequent friendly interactions. That, however, is speculation. Even so, I don't think being rude to two other characters who 1) wasn't doing their job 2) was more concerned with confiscating minor contraband than pursuing an active, murderous syndicate agent. As well, I think citing my engineering character carrying an RCD as evidence of "powergaming" is ludicrous.
Attached are screenshots of my "powergaming loadout" sans the spear, as I had turned it into Security. As well, I have included the total conversation between myself and oBerry.
I found their signoff including a "<3" before instantly kicking me from the server to be overwhelmingly snide and passive aggressive. I only mention so here because I don't know where, exactly, I would otherwise complain about it.
Additionally, I have furnished my playtime for Frontier Station, as additional proof that I haven't had issues with being a regular at other MRP servers.
