Example: "Game Ban Appeal - Icepick"
Your SS14 Username: Acorn
Banning Admin's Username: Gtheglorious
Role Ban or Server Ban: Server
Round ID (if applicable): Unknown, ban does not include round ID
Reason for Ban: Ignored a direct ruling to stop causing issues for the station as it went against his objectives. Being a huge issue in the way that the entire station was focused on a minor thief antag rather than the nukies.
What lead up to the ban: Thief, use jaws and the power of asking RD for an artifact to acomplish objectives. Store my stuff in a sealed room. Cool. Now need to find a way to get myself caught to get rid of my all comms headset, plus I have done 0 interaction with sec this round, so I decide to yoink cap's ID, give myself AA, and advertise a thieving service. Buy salvage shotguns with my AA during my whole sec run-around, get caught by a secoff. about 2 seconds after I am caught, AI announces nukies. This was the first indication of any other antagonist onboard. G then tells me to 'stop being a problem during nukies'. So, with permission from the captain, I get HIM his ID back so he can do his job, and use my AA id to enter HOS'S office for a new pair of comms so i can communicate with cap. I tell command i am going to blow into AI core and un-antimov the AI. RD already did it. I have 20k, so i choose to enter the cargo shuttle and get shotties for the crew. When i return, nukies defeated. I spend the rest of the round healing people before G ahelps me, and bans me without even asking for an explanation.
Why you should be unbanned: This entire ahelp comes from G not understanding that the crew is not omnipotent, and feels a little targeted.
Firstly: 'The entire station' is dramatic. Like, sure, sec was chasing me around, plus both captains, plus the AI bolting me in a room (woohoo), but that is entirely because until the nukies showed up, NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. I was the only person doing anything. This was of course an intentional move to help me acomplish my objectives. If someone reported me in any of my break-in locations, and that happened to co-incide with evac, i would fail my unrestrained objective. Thus, in a dramatic showing (to not make it look like HMM WHY IS THIS GUY HANDING IN HIS CONTRA THATS WEIRD) I commit a major crime to eat all of the crime I had committed up until that point and get their sentences done in one fell swoop. This isn't just a 'I wanna cause shit to happen', it is a VERY useful move that antagonists do to work around the unrestrained objective.
Second: 'Ignoring a direct ruling' is just plain made up. I never made myself a major issue during the nuclear operatives situation. As established, I used my antagonist abilities and equipment and communicated with the command staff. Captain himself told sec to give me my PDA back. I led captain to his ID after the antimoved AI freed me from prison. G's 'ruling' both never applied and was never violated.
Third: During the ahelp, I was told that he is 'sick of my line skirting'. This is unfair towards a player. I have been informed BY AN ADMIN BEFORE that certain actions I was doing were brushing up against the line. I have since corrected those actions. since my ban I have never been contacted about breaking antagonist rules. Let me explain what happens here:
I perform antagonist actions that skirt the rules. I receive NO feedback about these actions being potentially problematic. I then continue doing these antagonist actions, completely unaware that I am close to violating these rules. Instead, why not: I perform antagonist actions that skirt the rules. An admin ahelps me, politely informs me that while what I am doing isnt rulebreaking, but comes close. I then steer my actions away from that line.
The rule of responsible antagonist play literally states that antags are SUPPOSED to create conflict. I was punished because I chose to make the game more interesting for the security team and create conflict. I was punished because I am not omnipotent about the existance of nuclear operatives I have never been informed of. I was punished because I chose to use my antag equipment to follow a 'ruling' with permission from the captain.
But above all, I was punished without a chance to explain my actions. Which is stupid.
