"You people struggle to separate the wheat from the chaff; if you really want to understand her, you have to go further back."
"Consider this, a gesture of good will from S.E.L.F.... This one's been quite bothersome."
In Life We'll Dance
She rolled out of bed, her feet slipping into lavish slippers as she stood; a maid already standing by her rooms magnificent mahogany door, holding a tray covered with a assortment of different breakfast items.
She walked over yawning; grabbing a cup of lavender tea, her fireplace sprung to life as she walked to her couch.
The maid put the tray of breakfast items onto a cart, clicking a single button - the curtains in her room parted letting light pour inside.
Maid: Can I get you anything else, madam?
She shook her head, and the maid exited the room; she sat there for a while, calmly drinking her tea before gently placing the elegantly designed crystal cup onto her table.
She slowly arose from her couch, stretching her neck as she walked into her closet; adorning her favorite dress, she thought to herself "Today's the day."
She opened her bedrooms door, before stepping into the great hall of their families mansion; she walked down the halls, passing countless pieces of art - not even paying a glance to any of them, before stopping at the end of the hall; she gazed out of the great glass window, looking into the clouds, and the city in the distance.
She sighed silently, tapping her fingers against her legs, she thought to herself "I- I should just go now, I shouldn't even tell him."
But just as that thought left her mind, she shook her head; if she was going to do this, she should tell him.
She turned down the hall, walking further and further into the mansion before finally entering the dining hall, her family sitting down already, enjoying breakfast.
She took a seat on the far opposite side of the table from her father, he looked up smiling
"Good morning, dear; you're rather late to breakfast - But I guess you're just saving you're appetite for dinner!" he gently laughed before continuing "After all; they will be cooking your favorite meal, it's your birthday!"
Her heart started pounding in her chest, she coughed before taking a sip of water.
Do-No-Evil: Dad I-... I enlisted in the Marines.
He chuckled, continuing to cut into his meal "That's great dear! I'll call up my friend in the hiring division, I think 'Fleet Admiral No-Evil' would fit you nicely." he took a bite of his food, not even making eye contact with her
Do-No-Evil: No I... I enlisted in BETA.
He gently placed his knife and fork down, before grabbing a napkin and patting his mouth with it; slowly exhaling, he finally looked across the table and met her gaze
"You're not throwing your life away in that squad; if you're going to go to an actual station, you'll be going as a Captain, or the Chief Medical Officer." He sternly said, his gaze piercing into her soul.
She shook her head defiantly, as her heart pounded faster in her chest
Do-No-Evil: It's not your say anymore; and I've already enlisted, I don't want your help with this - I want to finally decide something myself for once.
He shook his head, putting his hand down on the table.
"So decide what to have for dinner, where to go to vacation; not to go to fucking war, not to join a frontline breaching squad."
He said, his tone getting angrier with every word.
"A lady of your stature? Your class? A member of my family? No; this isn't some fucking movie, you're my child, you have responsibility."
She gripped onto the sides of her dress, trying to stabilize herself; her breathing intensifying
Do-No-Evil: I-I d-didn't ask for the responsibility of being your kid! I'm going to do th-this, you c-can try to stop me all you want- b-but I'm not going to quit, I'll forge my I-ID, you'll never even k-know.
His anger was palpable in the room; but all he did was sigh and stand up, straighting his tie. "If you think this is your way to prove a point; you're wrong. When I have to pull your body from a cloning pod I hope you'll realize how stupid you truly are." He turned around and walked out of the dining room, disappearing around the corner; the rest of her family just stared at her, the only friendly face at the table was her sister, who gave her a thumbs up.
She rose from the chair, walking out of the dining room while trying to keep a straight face; the second she stepped into the hall the facade fell, and tears strung across her cheeks
Her sister walked up behind her and held her tightly in her arms; gently patting her head while whispering "I'll wait for you."
. . .
The loud clunk of the pod opening filled her ears, she stepped out; gripping each side of her pod woozely, her stomach growled and churned as she blinked and stepped forwards, her feet pressing against the cold unforgiving metal floor
A hundred people's voices all talking at once, all of them walking forwards in tandem to a wall align with lockers full of armor, and equipment
She followed the closest person to a set of empty lockers; they quickly put on medium infantry armor, and grabbed a shovel and belt with a medical cross on it
Do-No-Evil: What- What do I do? She sheepishly asked, holding her stomach as it screamed for food
They just pointed to the armor, and walked hurriedly down the hall disappearing between airlocks; she slowly looked through the assortments of armor and equipment, before landing on light infantry gear which she sluggishly adorned.
She grabbed a pair of combat boots and pulled them on; she took a belt filled with flares and clicked it into place against her waist, before she followed a group of people through the next airlock.
The room was covered in guns; every wall had another rack filled with rifles, shotguns, pistols, and ammo. She walked over to a empty spot, looking to her left to see what the other person would pick, she grabbed a M4SPR and four magazines; it was heavier then she thought it'd be, and she slung it over her back.
She followed another group of people, as they walked down a long hall they finally got to a food court - she ran faster then she's ever run before to the vending machine, looking at it's available options excitedly.
She quickly realized this wasn't home - every option out of stock other then "NutriBricks", she clicked the button and a hard brown bar fell out of the machine she grabbed it and put it up to her mouth; it smelled like... nothing, she bit into the brick, and had to pull with all her might to get a chunk out of it; which she chewed, and chewed, and chewed until she could finally swallow it.
The taste was, horrible, and bland; "this has to be by far the worst thing I've ever ate" she thought to herself, as she reluctantly tore another chunk out of the bar.
The pain in her stomach slowly disappeared, at least she wouldn't have to eat much of it; she looked back to the machine, and dispensed a canteen of water, she uncorked it and drank half of the canteen in one sitting.
She's been in Cryosleep before; but it's never made her this, hungry, and thirsty.
A loud voice boomed over the speakers "EVERYBODY GET TO YOUR SQUADS NOW!"
A horde of soldiers ran past her, nearly knocking her over in the commotion; she squeezed into the group and ran to the blue tiled floor, a giant "BETA SQUADRON" flag adorned the ceiling above it.
She took a seat next to another member, before looking to a woman standing in the middle of a glass box.
"ALRIGHT!" She screamed loudly "LISTEN UP SOLDIERS; WE'VE GOT A DISTRESS SIGNAL COMING IN FROM A JUNGLE PLANET! THIS USED TO BE A RESEARCH BASE, SO I WANT BETA AND DELTA TO CLEAR THE BASE! ALPHA, GAMMA, YOU SECURE THE PERMITER!"
Some of the soldiers next to her quietly whispered to each other, laughing as they did "Oh jeeze, another dumbfuck four eyes got scared of some birds again", one said as the other laughed.
"ALRIGHT, BETA AND DELTA! YOU TAKE THE ALAMO! ALPHA AND GAMMA YOU'RE ON THE NORMANDY! LETS GET A FUCKING MOVE ON PEOPLE!" She screamed as she blew a whistle, every single person instantly stood up and ran forwards; she followed closely behind them, blowing the whistle anytime someone would stop to breathe.
They finally got into the Alamo, and she took a seat, the Commander stood outside the Alamo barking orders at the pilots; she buckled in, as another squadmate took a seat next to her, she pulled a cigarette packet out of her vest.
She pulled one of the cigarettes out of the package, and put it in her mouth; before flipping one of the cigarettes upside down, she put it back into his vest and grabbed a single match, striking it against her helmet and lighting the cigarette.
Do-No-Evil: I-...
She looked over, her eyes widening; she coughed a little. "Oh I'm- I'm sorry I didn't even notice... I- Do you want one?" she said, already grabbing the package back from her vest.
Do-No-Evil: N-No it's okay... I just.. didn't understand..
She inhaled slightly, before exhaling smoke; she spoke quietly, clealy embarrased. "I- It's a uh- tradition... I'm uh- I'm An-Agallis by the way..- b-but everyone here c-calls me Alfie."
Do-No-Evil: Whats the-... what's the tradition, Alfie?...
She opened the package of cigarettes again, before pointing to the one she flipped upside down. Alfie: S-See, a long time ago... Soldiers would flip- a cigarette upside down; so.. She points at a logo on the side of the bottom.
Alfie: S-So that would burn first... T-The idea is, if you get to the last one, you can smoke it normally - because you made it back to base safe...
The shuttle instantly launched into FTL, throwing both of them against the seat; other members of BETA laughing as they did "Hey buddy, stop fuckin with the chick and focus!" One said mockingly, as half the shuttle roared with laughter.
Do-No-Evil: I-... I'm sorry... She quietly whispered to Alfie, who just sat there, looking straight ahead; before putting away the cigarette package again.
Alfie: Its- It's alright; we're almost there..
The second she said that; the shuttle dropped out of FTL, the pilot screamed to the back "EVERYONE GET READY!" As it landed and touched down with the shuttlepad, the doors opening with a loud hiss.
Everyone poured out of the shuttle; the Research Bases lights flickering on and off in the dark night, everyone took out their rifles and switched their flashlights on; the road in front of them barely illuminated.
She looked down at the pavement; it was slick with blood and viscera, she slowly looked up towards her squad leader who was also looking at the road.
As he begun to speak; she could hear a single thumping noise, the squad leaders head exploded into a shower of blood and gore.
Half of the company started to scream, frantically shining their flashlights towards the jungle; desperately trying to find the shooter, a detachment of BETA started running for the research bases door, screaming back to everyone.
"ARE YOU GUYS TRYING TO JUST FUCKIN' STAND IN THE OPEN? GET A MOVE ON BEFORE YOU GET TURNED INTO SWISS FUCKIN' CHEESE!"
They were right, and everyone knew they were right; DELTA's S.M.A.R.T gunner started to shoot into the jungle, trying to provide covering fire for the squad.
She bolted down the pavement, her boots sloshing against the blood; her flashlights barely illuminating the road in front of her, what she could see she wished she hadn't, organs, bodies, and sigils littered the road.
When she finally got to the research bases door she turned around; looking towards the rest of the company, groups of them running desperately across the road, blindfiring into the jungle as they did.
She watched as one of them stepped on a sigil, his legs immediately exploded into a shower of blood and bone fragments; her face went pale as she watched more and more people stepping on the sigils, she closed her eyes and sat down against the metal wall of the base, trying to drown out the carnage, until someone put their hand on her shoulder and shaked her.
Alfie: You get hit? You okay?
She shook her head as she slowly opened her eyes again; of the hundred soldiers in the company, only twenty made it to the door.
Do-No-Evil: N-No I'm... I'm f-fine..
"But that isn't true... I'm not fine" she thought to herself, as she looked up towards Alfie; who was extending a hand out to her.
She grabbed Alfies hand and pulled herself off the floor; her legs trembled as they both looked towards the door, she raised her rifle to point towards it as the Engineer pried open the door
Thump she watched as a body fell out of the door, landing directly at her boots; her stomach-turned as the smell of rotting bodies poured out of the base.
She covered her muzzle with her left claw desperatly trying to stop herself from vomiting, as she noticed the bodies hands were scraped to bone; her flashlight illuminating the halls which were slick with blood and disemboweled bodies
Do-No-Evil: Wh-..What d-do every word she said made her gag; one of the engineers turned around to face her, his face pale as he spoke in a whispered tone
"Shut. The. FUCK. Up. Look around. Turn off that fucking flashlight. And be. Fucking. Quiet."
She noded while shakily turning off the rifles flashlight; the halls glowed a light red with every step as they slowly started walking, stepping over bodies and organs.
With every step they took their boots sloshed against the blood; as they came around a corner, she felt something grab her leg.
She fell face first onto the steel floor, her rifle clattering against it with a loud scraping noise; she quickly sat up, reaching around through the bits of people to pick it up, her breathing heavy as she held it close to her chest - her face slick with blood and meat
She started looking around; desperately trying to see the rest of her squad in the pitch black darkness, she opened her mouth to speak but - then she saw her.
"Is-... I-Is that m-my sister..? B-But... h-how?" She thought to herself, staring down the hall looking at what appeared to be her sister; glowing a slight red hue.
Do-No-Evil: S-Speaks?...
She spoke in a hushed tone, lowering her rifle slightly as her sister nodded; slowly walking closer and closer to her.
Do-No-Evil: B-But... How are... You h-here? W-Why are you here?...
Her sister started moving faster, while shrugging; looking her dead in the eyes, the red glow intensifying with every step.
Do-No-Evil: Y-You.... A-Are you o-okay..?.. Wh-... Why are you.. Running?
Her sisters face slowly turned into a devilish grin; dissolving in front of her eyes into a grotesque mask of flesh and viscera, a large blade sunk into her shoulder the pain instantly flushed throughout her body, she tried to scream but- she couldn't, her voice had disappeared.
She grabbed the knife from her vest, stabbing the figure square in the chest - it suddenly disappeared; her shoulder warm from the blood pouring out of it.
She fell against the wall, instantly being transported back to the squad; she put her claw on her shoulder, but she didn't feel any wound.
Her face went pale as she looked down the hall in front of them, a glowing red figure stood at the end, holding a large dagger.
She instantly raised her rifle, squeezing the trigger - but, nothing happened; she looked at the safety, it was off, she looked at the chamber seeing a round in it.
She pulled the trigger again, and again, and again; but nothing happened, the figure at the end of the hall screamed. "DEDO OL'BTOH!"
She looked in horror as almost everyone caught fire; they screamed in agony as their flesh slowly melted away from their body, leaving charred husks.
Alfie raised her rifle, and held the trigger down the hall towards the figure; every bullet connecting, it crumpled into a pile as laughter filled the halls, the sickening screams of agony still ringing in her mind.
Do-No stood shaking; looking at her rifle, muttering to herself.
Do-No-Evil: I-I... I-I could've... I-I shot... I-I could've s-saved... I-
Alfie ran over to her and grabbed her shoulder, shaking her slightly before saying.
Alfie: We need to go. Now.
Do-No noded, tears streaming down her face as she followed Alfie down the dark halls; their headsets sputtered to life, a single message was relayed to them.
"Heavy casualties detected; return to the Alamo, new LZ: Courtyard. ETA: 2.3 Minutes."
She looked at Alfie, and then to her waist; she reached into the pouch of flares and pulled one out.
Do-No-Evil: W-We... h-have to have l-light to see where to go...
Alfie nodded in agreement as she unscrewed the tip of the flare, striking it against it; light instantly billowed from the flare, sparks landing on the rotten bodies creating a stomach-turning smell as they slowly burned.
She wrapped her tail around the flare, holding her rifle in both hands; they slowly walked down the halls following the blood splattered signs to the courtyard.
As they turn the corner into the courtyard, they see four cultists standing in a circle; one instantly starts screaming while raising his rifle towards Alfie.
Do-No's mind raced as she thought about all of the death and bodies, as she remembered her father's mocking words; she pushed Alfie aside, standing directly in the line of fire.
She screamed as she struggled to stand as the bullets hit into her chest and legs; every round shooting more pain throughout her body, her adrenal glands kicking into overdrive desperately trying to quell the shock.
Alfie: YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!
Alfie unpinned a grenade, throwing it directly into the center of the cultists; click, click, click.. boom a cloud of shrapnel filled the air, the cultist all collapsed into a pile of blood and limbs as Do-No finally fell over; the wounds and bloodloss finally taking it's toll.
Alfie: F-Fuck fuck.. FUCK!! She screamed as she ran over to Do-No; grabbing combat medical pens out of her pouch, injecting Do-No with them repeatedly.
Do-No-Evil: D-Di..d-did... w-w-w-e-e g-get t-them?.. Her face slowly going pale as she looked up at Alfie, blood pouring out of her mouth.
Alfie started crying as she looked down at Do-No, ripping pieces of her clothes off to make makeshift bandages.
Do-No-Evil: H-Hey... d-don't c-cry... I'm.. I-I'm o-okay.. She said softly, as her eyes slowly fluttered closed.
Alfie slapped her on the cheek, taking the cigarette package out of her vest before removing one and lighting it; gently putting it in Do-No's blood covered mouth.
Alfie: D-Don't you FUCKING DARE!
Do-No coughed as the smoke entered her mouth, her eyes opening slightly; she could see the Alamo above them, she pointed up towards it slowly
Do-No-Evil: H-H...H-H-ey t-they're h-here...
She smiled weakly, the cigarette falling out of her mouth as her eyes closed, the last thing she heard was Alfie shouting to the pilots.
A bright light filled her mind; she could feel a thousand hands pulling on her, pushing her forwards, faster and faster towards the light.
Her eyes opened, she laid on a bed; an IV connected to her arm, the bright LED lights of the Alyamar hurt her head.
Alfie was sleeping on a chair next to the bed; the beeping of the heart rate monitor causing her to wake up.
Alfie: Mmh...
*Alfie rubbed her eyes, stretching as she yawned before looking towards Do-No."
Alfie: What w-where you thinking!! You-... You almost died!!
She punched Do-No; tears swelling in her eyes.
Do-No-Evil: I-.... I didn't want... You to get hurt too..
Alfie frowned while looking at Do-No, she lightly grabbed her hand.
Alfie: You shouldn't throw your life away for me you idiot...
The airlock opened with a loud clunk; the Fleet Admiral walked through the door and looked them up and down.
"Ah; congratulations on a successful mission."
He immediately turned and exited the room; Do-No started to shake, her anger palpable as the hear rate monitor spiked.
"Successful mission?.. That... Was a succesful mission?.." She thought to herself.
Alfie could see her anger; she whispered to her.
Alfie: "It's not worth it..."
Do-No stood on a large stage, wearing BETA's formal attire; ribbons and medals tacked onto her chest, a golden four loop aiguillette strung across her right shoulder.
"We're here today to congratulate Mrs. No-Evil; for her service to TerraGov, throughout her years of service she has repeatedly proven her valor, and unwavering commitment to the safety of her fellow Marines, and the safety of us all."
She stood looking straight forwards; barely listening to the Fleet Admiral, thousands of people stared at her as he spoke.
"Bullshit." She thought to herself, laughing in her mind; "What a complete load of bullshit; just get this the fuck over with so I can leave." She turned to the Fleet Admiral, saluting him before grabbing a certificate from his hands.
She turned to face the crowd.
Do-No-Evil: Throughout my service, I committed myself to one consta-
"Blah... Blah... Blah..." She saluted the crowd, turning back to the Fleet Admiral and shaking his hand; her blood boiled as she walked off of the stage, she folded the certificate into a neat square, sliding it into her pocket as she walked forwards.
"There... There she is.." She smiled as she ran forwards.
She immediately hugged her, holding her tightly against her chest; quietly whispering in her ear.
Do-No-Evil: We're finally done.
Alfie looked at her smiling; she softly kissed Do-No while laughing.
Alfie: It took us a little while but... We're here now; and that's all that matters.
Do-No nodded as they started walking down the long halls of TerraGov's Headquarters; as they stepped outside into the night she turned and looked at her.
Do-No-Evil: Marry me.
Alfie laughed while looking into her eyes.
Alfie: What?
Do-No nodded while grabbing her hand and kissing her.
Do-No-Evil: I'm serious, marry me; I want to spend my whole life with you.
Alfie paused for a second, turning and looking into the sky; the aurora borealis glistening above them.
Alfie: I-... I would like that...
She smiled as Do-No hugged her tightly.
Do-No-Evil: You're my everything..
Click.
She felt the cold steel of a barrel press into her spine; her eyes widened as she fought the urge to turn around.
Do-No-Evil: Buddy, whoever you are, you're makin' a big mistake..
She looked at Alfie's face, her breathing heavy as the figure spoke.
"No, I think I'm doin' whats right Mrs. No-Evil."
They pulled the trigger three times, Alfie screamed as blood began to stain her dress; Do-No crumpled forwards into Alfie's arms as the figure ran away into the darkness, she could barely makeout a white symbol on the back of it's jacket.
Her mind filled with images of her and Alfie together; a beautiful wedding dress flowing in the soft summers breeze, the forests leaves rustling, her beautiful face as she stepped up next to her.
Do-No-Evil: I-.... I l-love y-you...
She whispered as tears fell from her eyes, she could see the world slowly closing in around her; the snow under their shoes stained a dark red.
Footsteps crunched in the snow as Marines poured out of the building, screaming to one another as a paramedic unfolded a stretcher.
Her mind replayed the same conversation, over and over again. "Why be a soldier, Do-No?" ... 'Because I wanted to make a difference.' ... "Always the noble type weren't you?" ... 'I'm just trying to be chivalrous.' ... "Well... It's working." She remembered her rosey face as she kissed her for the first time.
Do-No-Evil: I-I... I-.. D-Don't w-wanna go... y-yet..
She whispered; as the paramedic slid her onto the stretcher, wheeling her back inside while injecting fifteen units of inaprovaline.
And as fast as the light had left her eyes, it came back; she laid in a medical bed, an IV of blood slowly dripping intravenously into her arm.
Alfie sat in a chair next to the medical bed; her dress stained with blood.
Do-No-Evil: I'm-.... I'm sorry this-... keeps happening...
She coughs as Alfie looks at her; tears dripping down her cheeks.
Alfie: Y-You... I'm just-... I'm just glad you're okay...
Do-No-Evil: Not gonna call me a idiot this time?
She says, laughing quietly as Alfie smiles slightly.
The summer wind gently breezed through the trees, her flowing black dress adorned with a corsage of fire lilies; she stood inside a wooden gazebo, a large black carpet laid on the forest floor.
She stood, her stomach-turning as she waited; she'd never felt this nervous before, she looked to the crowd, her sister meeting her gaze with a smile.
"This is it, the day we've finally been waiting for." Alfie walked through the woods, slowly stepping out onto the carpet; her beautiful white dress flowing elegantly behind her as she walked down the flower covered carpet.
Alfie stepped up onto the gazebo, her face covered with a beautiful veil; Do-No smiled, looking into her eyes as she slowly lifted the veil.
She whispered.
Do-No-Evil: You look as beautiful as always..
Alfie blushed slightly as she removed two ring boxes from her pocket; placing it on the alter, neither of them even listened to the priest as they spoke.
"Do you, Do-No-Evil, take An-Agallis to be your lawfully wedded wife? Will you honor and cherish her; love, trust, and commit to her, through joy and pain, sickness and health, and whatever life may throw at you both?"
Do-No-Evil: I do.
"And do you, An-Agallis, take Do-No-Evil to be your lawfully wedded wife? Will you honor and cherish her; love, trust, and commit to her, through joy and pain, sickness and health, and whatever life may throw at you both?"
Alfie: I do.
"Do-No-Evil, please repeat after me: An-Agallis, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be there for you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too; for in our Death, we'll flourish, for even then, we shall not be seperated."
Do-No-Evil: An-Agallis, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be there for you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too; for in our Death, we'll flourish, for even then, we shall not be seperated.
"An-Agallis, please repeat after me: Do-No-Evil, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be there for you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too; for in our life we'll dance, for there are no sad days together."
An-Agallis: Do-No-Evil, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be there for you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too; for in our life we'll dance, for there are no sad days together.
"Do-No-Evil and An-Agallis, having proclaimed your love and commitment to one another in the eyes of these loved ones, and with the power vested in me by TerraGov; I am happy to announce you wife and wife, you may now kiss the bride."
Do-No's heart pounded in her chest as she kissed Alfie; the crowd clapping as they held the kiss.
Do-No gently put a beautiful white and gold ring on Alfie's finger while smiling.
Alfie gently put a black and red ring on Do-No's finger, kissing her one last time.
They both slowly walked out of the gazebo; Do-No unpicked the corsage from her dress and threw it into the crowd, their elegant cake sat on a table with all types of hand crafted meals.
Her sister ran over and hugged her tightly as Alfie cut the cake; she laughed quietly while wresting her head on her shoulder.
Do-No-Evil: I've missed you Speaks.
Her sister nodded while patting her back.
Speak-No-Evil: I have too.
They all sat to eat; a member of BETA walked over to the table with Do-No and Alfie and sat down next to them.
"Been a while."
Do-No looked at him puzzled, trying to remember who he was.
Do-No-Evil: Do we... Know you?
He put both hands on his chest closing his eyes and making a pained expression.
Xavier: God I know I was a bit of an asshole sometimes but seriously? You don't remember ol' Xi?
Do-No and Alfie laughed while looking at him.
Do-No-Evil: Well no shit, I thought you crawled up into some hole somewhere and overdosed on Bicar.
He laughed loudly
Xavier: Can't get rid of me that easy now! He paused for a second before continuing - Nice wedding, you two always looked nice together.
Do-No nodded while gently elbowing Alfie.
Do-No-Evil: Hey we both know she was the one with the looks.
He nodded laughing silently while reaching into his pocket, slowly pulling out an envelope.
Xavier: Well that is true-... Hey; listen, I got you this, I figured you might want it.
He slid it across the table to Do-No; who grabbed it and looked at it.
Do-No-Evil: So, what's in it?
Xavier: Why don't you go and find out.
He said, laughing; Do-No nodded while silently chuckling, she ripped open the top of it and pulled out a red and black business card, there was two pictures below it.
She slowly took out the pictures and looked at them; she could see herself and Alfie standing outside of TerraGov's headquarters - the night she got shot.
The next picture showed a large man holding a MK58; wearing a blue jumpsuit with a black coat, she could see a white N printed on it's back.
Do-No-Evil: H-How... Who?...
Xavier looked at her and Alfie and chuckled silently.
Xavier: NanoTrasen... You should take a look at the business card.
He said, before slowly standing up and walking away; he turned and waved as she read the business card "The Syndicate - We're interested in your skills, Mrs. No-Evil; we'll be in touch."
She chuckled to herself before turning to Alfie, looking her in the eyes as she threw the card over her shoulder.
Do-No-Evil: Yeah right... We got our happy ending.
And that's when they saw him; standing with a piece of cake, he had that same smug look on his face.
"Sorry about your accident, dear; you know how difficult politics are sometimes."
Alfie put her hand on Do-No's leg, shaking her head slightly.
"Oh, well; at least your, wedding matches your standards... At least you actually amounted to something though; unlike the other one."
Do-No gripped the sides of her dress desperately trying to contain her anger.
Do-No-Evil: Why. Are. You. Here.
"Can't just see my daughter anymore?" He said smugly while looking into her eyes.
"Here I was thinking you'd accept another job; but- I guess it's clear that they wouldn't want you... You still have, that at least."
He gestures towards Alfie, gently wiping his mouth with a napkin.
Do-No-Evil: You should leave.
"Oh? Now why's that! I thought we were having a nice little reunion; me and my 'hero' daughter, we all know you only got that title by being a 'hero' to the Admiral."
He put his claws together and rested his head on them, closing his eyes; he laughed as he put his hands back into his pockets.
She pulled a mk58 out of her dress and shot him directly in the head; his body immediately crumpled to the forest floor, people ran screaming as Alfie and her sister looked at her.
Alfie: W-What did you-....
Do-No-Evil: I DON'T FUCKING KNOW!!
She screamed her hands shaking as her father's security detail started running towards them; she quickly stood up and grabbed Alfies hands, slipping out of her heels as she pulled her away, Speak-No ran after them
She grabbed the card off of the forest floor as they ran away; the voices of her father's security getting further and further away.
They stopped next to a rock; hiding behind it.
Do-No-Evil: Fuck.. FUCK FUCK!!
Alfie: WHY!!
She bashed her claw against the rock before putting them on her face.
Do-No-Evil: I DON'T KNOW!! HE- HE BAITED ME INTO IT!!
The sound of a twig snapping instantly pulled her entire attention away; she scanned the horizon looking for the cause of the noise, she feels a cold steel finger touch her shoulder.
Xavier: Well, quite the scene Mrs. Do-No-Evil.
She instantly turned around, looking at Xavier; he was clad in a blood-red suit, it's four glass green eyes looking down at her, the cameras inside of them refocusing.
Do-No-Evil: JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!
She instantly pushed him away, pointing the gun at him.
Xavier: Hey! Hey! I'm just here to offer you a job!
He mumbles.
Xavier: Seems you lot could fuckin use one..
Her hand shaking as Alfie slowly put her hand on Do-No's, slowly pushing the gun down.
Alfie: Come on... We don't have-...
Do-No-Evil: Much of a fuckin choice...
He pulled three implanters out of his pocket, throwing them to the three.
Xavier: Use them, it'll take you somewhere nicer then this fuckin' place.
They all looked at the implanters; the sound of footsteps getting closer and closer as they inject them.
Xavier: Alright, now we can actually have a real talk..
He presses a button on his PDA; all four are instantly bluespaced to a elegant room, clad in dark oaks, bright reds, and gold.
Do-No held her head and blinked rapidly, she felt sick to her stomach as she looked around.
A man wearing a black and red cape met her gaze; his green visor scanning her up and down.
"Ah... Mrs No-Evil.."
He looks towards Speak-No and Alfie.
"And, more...."
He sighs silently, taking out a folder and writing notes with a diamond pen; he looked at Xavier.
"We agreed on one, two at most; three? How do you think this'll work?"
Xavier scratched his beard, looking towards Speak-No.
Xavier: Well....
He points at Alfie.
Xavier: That one was also a marine, a good one at that; and... Well I don't even know who she is really.
He says, pointing towards Speak-No.
"Great, one you don't even know; and you bought them here?.."
He rubbed the bridge of his nose.
Do-No-Evil: It's my sister.
He sighs, quietly putting away a metal hilt he had pulled out.
"Well, that's good at least; alright... Mrs No-Evil, you sit in the heart of the Syndicate; you currently reside in High Command."
She raises her brow, looking towards him.
Do-No-Evil: Is that supposed to, mean anything?
He laughed loudly, gently wiping a tear from his eyes as he looked towards them.
"Wow! Really? I thought you were knowledgeable...- No matter, allow me to explain; the Syndicate exists for one goal, the destruction of NanoTrasen."
Her eyes widened; Alfie stood shaking, the anger building inside of her.
"Oh look, now you're interested!"
Do-No-Evil: What's the offer.
He tapped the pen against the folder; looking towards Speak-No and Alfie.
"We need soldiers; like minded individuals willing to do hard things for the right reasons."
Alfie: Hard things like...?
He sighs silently, while looking back towards Xavier.
"How sure are you that they're trustworthy?"
Xavier: I served with them for five years; they're solid, and I know they can handle it.
He nods, slowly looking towards them again.
"You'll be assigned to the Gorlex Marauders; specifically the Nuclear Operatives strike-force, on a good day you'll be doing raids on NanoTrasen transport ships, stealing things for clients."
He slotted the pen into his PDA, looking them in the eyes.
"On other days; you'll be securing Nuclear Authentication disks on NanoTrasen stations, the ultimate goal being to detonate the stations self destruct sequence and escaping with the Disk."
Do-No and Alfie stared into the visor as he spoke.
"You'll be handsomely paid, you'll have cloning backup and in the event of capture you'll be installed with death acidification implants; totally painless, you'll wakeup here, and be generously rewarded for your efforts."
Speak-No looked towards Do-No and Alfie, visibly frightened as they appeared to nod along.
Do-No-Evil: Weaponry?
He laughed silently looking towards them.
"You know, maybe Xavier was right; you'll be given access to the Syndicate black market, weapons designed by DonkCo, WaffleCo, S.E.L.F, and Staroborough arms... Defensive armor, best in class rating, highest quality you can obtain; space resistant but fast moving."
She thought about everything that had just happened; the happy thoughts interrupted by the thoughts of him.. His body falling to the forests floor; the pictures of the assassin.
She looked at Alfie who looked back at her and noded; Do-No nervously nodding as well.
"Great... Great!.."
A woman walked into the room wearing a red paramedic outfit; she walked up to each of them and drew their blood, injecting a implant into each of their necks.
"Mrs. No-Evi-.." He coughs "Mrs. Do-No; from your data I believe you were a combat medic?"
She nodded while looking at him.
"Great; do you know how to synthesize chemicals? Did they ever teach you?"
She nodded again; barely flinching as the paramedic took measurements of her waist, arms, and legs.
She stood in the brightly lit chemlab; the plasma glass windows showing the peaceful world below them, she boiled beakers, quickly emptying jugs of precursors into the chemmaster.
She shoved jug after jug of chemicals into her duffle; her mind raced with thoughts "What do we need? Puncturase, yes, dermaline? Probably.. Dylovene? Unlikely, Leporazine? Hardsuits, no. Phalaxamine?" She shook her head as she made another jug of Puncturase.
She stepped out of the chemlab; opening the radio's hidden interface, she stared at the selection of items.
Xavier: Buy a Agent ID, No-Slip shoes, a Energy Sword, and a C-20r.
She nodded, purchasing all of them, racking the C-20r and slinging it behind her duffle; she put the energy sword into her pocket.
Xavier: Alright; listen up, we're going to a Reach class transport today. The S.E.L.F want the Nuclear Authentication disk; something about their AI's and updating them.
Alfie looked at them both; she purchased a Bulldog, No-Slips, a Energy Sword, and a cryptographic sequencer.
Xavier: It'll be a simple mission, we go in; get the disk, eliminate all hostile threats and get out.
Do-No nodded as Xavier threw Alfie a telecrystal, she inserted it into the radio and purchased a Agent ID.
Speak-No laid in the bed; she thought to herself "Training huh..." she sighed silently, looking out the plasma window.
She stood up and walked into the Camera room; flipping on the monitors which showed the body cameras attached to their hardsuits.
She sat back in the chair and watched as they boarded the shuttle; slowly putting on their helmets, in an instant the shuttle warped away from the planet.
Xavier: Alright; we're approaching NT-14 Reach Transport, put your helmets on, and get ready for a fight.
The ship clunked out of FTL; Xavier walked out of the bridge putting on a mantle as he flicked his helmet on, the green lights illuminating the inside of the shuttle as Do-No and Alfie did the same.
He grabbed a Jetpack out of a locker; throwing Do-No and Alfie one too.
Xavier: Remember, we're here for the disk; anyone who gets in the way of that needs to be... Sent packing.
They nodded as they put the jetpacks on; walking out of the airlocks with a hiss, the dark void of space surrounding them as they fly to the transport.
Xavier looked towards Alfie; pointing towards the Transports doors, he made a swiping motion.
Alfie flew over to the airlock and swiped the cryptographic sequencer against it; it hissed open with a clunk, Xavier instantly went inside the transport, raising his rifle and clearing the halls slowly.
Xavier: ENTER!
Do-No and Alfie entered through the door; she rested her rifle against Xaviers shoulder as Alfie walked up behind her, aiming behind them towards a maintenence door.
A scientist walked around the corner, his pupils instantly expanded as he saw them; he screamed, loudly.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT ITS THE BLOOD-REDS!!!"
Xavier unloaded the C-20r into him, his body instantly crumpling to the floor in a pool of blood.
Xavier: MOVE MOVE MOVE! FIND THE FUCKING DISK!
Xavier pushed forwards, flicking his energy sword on as Do-No followed; shooting a security guard who tried to ambush Xavier.
Do-No-Evil: FIVE O' CLOCK!
Xavier swung his energy sword into a cargo technician, her body being cleaned straight in half as they continued through the ship.
Alfie pulled the pin on an EMP grenade, sliding it against the floor; it detonated, instantly turning off every electronic nearby.
A man wearing a black and red hardsuit unloaded a mag into Xavier; Do-No hid behind him, injecting ten units of Puncturase and Saline.
Xavier responded by unloading a clip into the man; throwing a minibomb into the room he ran towards, it exploded with a deafening boom, the transport shuttle shook.
Xavier: THERE!
He pointed towards the Captain; who began shooting his pistol while running towards the bridge, he barely got to the door as Do-No unloaded her entire clip into his back, he fell paralyzed to the floor.
Xavier walked over to him, removing a python from his waist and aiming it at the Captains head.
Xavier: Nothin' personal bud, just wrong place; wrong time.
He pulled the trigger, blood splashed up against his helmets visor; he fumbled around his pockets, pulling a green disk out of them.
Xavier: ALRIGHT, CLEAN UP AND LETS GET THE FUCK OUT!
They walked around the shuttle, shooting everyone they saw; every bullet calculated perfectly, not a single round wasted.
Xavier stood near Medical, when he heard a quiet sobbing; he saw a door with the maintenance panel ripped off of it.
He slowly entered the room, aiming his gun around the room as his hardsuits light lit it up.
"That's a-..." Xavier said to himself, looking into the eyes of a small green reptilian; it looked up at him terrified, it's arms and hands covered in scars.
The kid shook and cried; begging quietly.
"W-Why...W-Why h-here...."
Xavier stood breathing heavily; "I've... I've never had to.. not a kid... am- am I going to kill a kid..?"
Do-No and Alfie started to shout for him; beckoning him to come back so they could leave, he shook his head and walked out of the maintenance room, welding the door behind him.
Xavier: A-Alright, good work; let's get out of here.
They went to the airlock; Xavier turned around and pressed a button on the captains PDA, the alert level instantly raised to red.
Do-No-Evil: Why'd you do that?
He threw the PDA onto the floor; turning to the airlock door and walking out of it.
Xavier: Leaving a message.
"Did you find what you were looking for, Commander?"
The terminal slowly loads back to the Communication Interception page.
