How old are you?

18

Have you read the requirements, and ensured you meet them?

Yes

How many hours do you have on Funky?

758 hours

Have you helped with whitelists before, or played Nanotrasen Career Trainer on New Player Weekend? Please elaborate on which one.

Neither

What tips you off that a player might be a good fit for Funky, if anything?

Someone willing to put in the effort to play a convincing character while also not being offended OOC by IC affairs is someone with the potential to thrive on Funky.

Have you ever had an interesting or fun experience helping a new player? If so, tell us about it.

Someone who had touched the game for the first time in their life, promoted to Med Intern from Assistant, managed to pull off flawless surgery on their first attempt under my watch (I did not know they were that new to the game but they managed really well)

How do you like to teach interns or new players, if at all?

I like to start by gauging just how new they are to the game before anything, since a player picking up the game for the first time WILL be absorbing information differently than someone with 100+ hours trying a new department, and so the approach to teaching them needs to be adjusted. In the case of being in game, teaching someone a department, once the previous has been established, I usually have some flexible teaching priority path for the department in my head to take them through. Things essential to actually running the department will come before niches (like advanced atmos) or tips to things already known.

What areas of the game would you say are your strong suit, if any?

Managing the Science/Medical department and communicating with people are my strong suits.

What is your favorite department? Why is it your favorite department?

It's unfortunately Engineering. It's easy to say that Engineering is the single most important department on the station, and the skills you learn in it will enhance your gameplay in literally every department. It's easy to grasp, even for a new player, but also objectively the most complex department in the game in its high levels. Even with all the knowledge I gather in the game, it's hard to reach a state of "knowing everything" with Engineering, if it even can be reached. It's got everything and has become my favorite over time as such, even if I don't main it exclusively....

Tell us a fun fact you know about the game. The more niche, the better.

Lathes have an internal storage for reagents which can be filled. Glue slows printing, Lube does the opposite. You can also put water in jrpacmans if you hate them.

Tell us about a roleplay moment you fondly remember.

One that comes to mind is when I was playing Warden during warops. I died early on, so did most of the station, but I got revived in the dark of the library by the few survivors while the Nukies were losing their minds over losing their shuttle nuke (i found myself asking in character why they got me back into this shit). What this meant for us is that we either keep stealthy or die, we kept rotating around the station with care not to step anywhere near the very alive operatives, notably the corpse infested med where we tried to get as many people up as possible. ERT came out of nowhere and we joined them in a joint effort to try and kill the operatives which peaked in a broadside shuttle vs shuttle fight as we intercepted them using the cargo shuttle while they had the salvage shuttle taken over to try and find their own shuttle. Before we set off, though, I led a blind crewmember to an escape pod and removed the lightbulb, telling them i'll see them later (I never did). Nukies won in the end. I remember this shift fondly because I'm a big fan of nightmare scenario roleplaying honestly :godo:

Are you committed to keeping up with mechanics changes and learning them so you may teach new players, and presenting a friendly, helpful face in our community?

Yes, because changes to the game mean that there's both something new for me to learn and something new for others to learn. Being able to teach new players in my own words feels very rewarding to me so I can't afford to cheap out on my own knowledge.

Are you willing to assist admins with whitelists by helping look over and pre-approve them?

Why not?
