Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
This is an oooold character of mine, from way back on SS13's Baystation, pre-Torch (back when they were on the Exodus map, if that means anything to you xp). I don't exactly remember this character's name, unfortunately, so I've just subbed in a name here.
Leyla had served in a position roughly equivalent to "head of security" for over a decade by the time she was working aboard the Exodus.
She originally began work as an enforcer and security chief for small trade vessels running on the edge of the frontier. She commanded a small crew and a smaller budget, but she managed to fight off pirates while maintaining a minimal casualty rate. When her gig running the lines eventually dried up, she got an offer from NanoTrasen and took the deal.
On the Exodus, she ran a tight ship. She inherited a security team that was itchy to run for lethals whenever someone so much as sneezed, and she drilled them relentlessly out of that habit. She focused on public relations - good relationships with the crew makes their jobs easier. She would host public training exercises for active shooters, have discussions with the crew at the bar, and always insisted on minimal force for maximal impact.
Breaking the tone a lil' bit of this post, my favorite memories of playing her were these two:
1) Mercenary (Baystation's term for nuclear operatives) round. The mercs managed to blow out the armory and kill most of my sec force before we knew what was coming. Buuut, I always, ALWAYS did my best on Leyla to focus on non-lethal takedowns, something that was pretty rare on the sec team at the time. We managed to corner the mercs in the AI core and use a combination of batons and slips to take them down. At the end, we managed to arrest the entire team, which I've always seen as my best HoS round ever. :p
2) Mostly a funny anecdote, I had to tell off my security officers once for having the warden get them lethals because one (1) ninja was fucking around in RnD to steal some data. This was a definite violation of our server's escalation rules, but also mostly just made the RD mad as hell when some random officers ran in with shotguns without even asking him if he needed help. I had to threaten to arrest my own officer while the ninja was futzing about in RnD sdjkfasdljk
What made you join Funky Station?:
I've heard a lot of good about it! I am always drawn to servers that lean a bit into RP, and I've heard that Funky does that. From the little I've seen on Reddit and YouTube, it seems pretty cool. ![]()
Lemme know if you need anything else!
