A Biography, In Short:

Finch McMatthews, librarian and courier, is a twenty-seven year old woman of shockingly diminutive stature for a human her age, clocking in at a mere 4'9" / 146cm (still taller than your average dwarf), and quite thin in addition at 115 lbs / 52kg - simply put, a harsh enough breeze could blow her off her feet. Once an optimistic and outgoing girl in her teenage years, recurring nightmares invading her sleep following a both literally and figuratively scarring near-death experience have regrettably twisted her into a shell of her former self. Her once sun-bleached blonde hair darkened to essentially brown after a years-long reclusive streak; she was ruled by newfound irrational fears of finding herself suddenly thrusted into horrifically violent situations on account of what nightmares sleep wrought her. Nevertheless, she was always quite the clever girl, finding a passion in reading and writing inspired by her father's own literary endeavors, and gradually she regained the confidence to venture more than a few feet beyond her home's front door - though the anxiety still lingered, as is its wont.
After landing a job at the post office, she quickly became known for being surprisingly efficient when it came to deliveries despite her skittish nature, and with recommendation from her employer as well as her own mother - once a scientist for a certain interstellar megacorp - she found herself with a job offer for an entry level position of Nanotrasen's cargo branch, with pay several leagues better than the local mail department. The only catch that she was aware of was the fact that she would be planetside no longer, having been assigned to the rather infamous NT14. Despite the dread rearing its head once more at this prospect, she accepted, if only to send her parents chunks of her paycheck in thanks for allowing her to stay with them for so long. Unfortunately, the immediate consequence of taking up this job offer was the swift and immediate return of her newly-chronic night terrors, now more horrific than ever when abroad in the stars. As a means to keep herself psychologically fit, she's been given permission to man the station library as a secondary job - a quiet space to remind her of home.
While a nervous wreck, she's an utter sweetheart beneath it - fiercely loyal to her family and friends, and endlessly passionate about her hobbies.
Quantum Sunrise:
"I-It... always feels so real. I've woken up gasping for air, g-grabbing at my own throat, body still in pain like I... just lived it... something glowing green - eyes maybe - or... or a feeling like the world was tearing at the seams..."
In truth, the source of her nightmares is actually a manifestation of latent psionic(?) abilities as a result of bluespace exposure in utero from her mother's time with Nanotrasen, as there was a minor period of time before she was given leave. The chances of Finch ever being able to utilize them in a practical capacity at will are essentially null, but as part of her body's self-defense mechanisms, they naturally kick in under moments of extreme danger. In layman's terms, she has quantum immortality, her mind having effectively daisy-chained across several realities/timelines in the event of what would be an untimely, irrecoverable death, with her previous 'lives' manifesting as blurry, violent nightmares she struggles to recall any meaningful details from; she is NOT cloned by Nanotrasen in most timelines simply by virtue of her being quite low on the totem pole in most eventualities.
Simply put - CREW-ALIGNED Librarian and Courier Finch are the same person, as well as the 'prime' version of her. All others are the result of timeline deviations, drastic or otherwise.

Every shift Finch experiences, whether they end in tragedy or triumph, is technically something that's actually happened to her as a result, with her never really registering major differences between timelines on account of the memories the 'self' she jumps to superseding her previous memories. Notable major timeline deviations for Finch include - but are not limited to - turning to religion and becoming a moon priestess, becoming a compulsive kleptomaniac thief, having been brainwashed into being a Syndicate sleeper agent, and having been raised by wizards to become a member of the Space Wizards Federation.
A smaller, yet all the more noteworthy, side effect of this paranatural passive is - only in times of utter crisis - she may inexplicably begin displaying skills she should not reasonably have, such as proficiency with firearms or knowledge on how to operate devices she's never handled before, as if some information between her selves from different realities can transfer when needed. Of course, this does mean that she is limited by what she is potentially capable of achieving in other realities; a Finch who's a bad shot would only be able to grant another self with her mediocre aim, so ultimately this is as unreliable as the circumstances necessary to coax out this transfer to begin with. Furthermore, following situations this ability triggers are moments of extreme dissociation with her surroundings, subsequently leading to fatigue and muted recollection of what it was that had just occurred, let alone retaining the 'inherited' skill.
Typically, she attributes literally all of this to having read too much paired with an overactive imagination.

Would also like to specifically clarify that this is not intended as a way to cheat the system and get around the metashield with rp nonsense, this is deadass just a bootleg version of the Limbus Company ID system with more existential dread and zero gacha
