Make arrivals less punishing

This one I think one is pretty simple, im not bad at the game or a noob or anything but sometimes even I get gibed by arrivals (mostly when I forget im not sec and dont have externals access and get FUCKING STUCK). Parameds basically never come in time, even if you radio to warn. Arrivals is where new players are most likely to end up and being slow is something new players do a LOT. Its just incredibly punishing for something that is easy ish to avoid, sure, but also misleading. The doors lock before the timer hits zero, a thing I constantly forget and isn't very intuitive. Maybe make the doors like cargo bay doors where anyone can open them. Also gibing and round removing is rarely fun or worth it, in general I think RRing should be left only to the most extreme of circumstances and this situation is like the lowest bar, one dumb mistake and suddenly I cant play anymore.
(You might wonder why an experienced player bothers to get on the arrivals shuttle after having already arrived but like sometimes I need a crowbar or an epen or something and cool tip, if you are an antag you can throw whatever the fuck into the shuttle lockers, especially the wall lockers, and it will basically never get found.)

I like the arrivals pro tip for hiding stuff. Never thought of that
Another good solution (that wouldn't solve ypur case, but would protect the new players) is to have the spawn location be Cryosleeps by default.
Because right now, I think if you're new and you create a character, it'll automatically set your spawn at arrivals.

Hi!
There is currently a design doc that Tea is working on, this design doc would remove arrivals and make evac less common.
The reasoning is that the station is meant to feel isolated and having a shuttle going to and fro regularly feels unauthentic.
If this design doc gets implemented, there will be no more arrivals gibbing issues.

does this mean that the arrivals area would be removed? it's currently the only way to easily access space when you don't have externals access

The details remain to be decided upon and cases will very on a per-map basis. In short, from my understanding, the plan is for arrivals to be reworked into another docking arm so that more shuttles can dock easily.
So yes, the easy space exit from arrivals would go away; howver a lot of maps have a maints airlock to space that does not require externals access, moreover getting such access is usually quite simple and requires no complicated reasoning.
Adding to that, I've always found the arrivals trick used to go into space a bit cheesy and would be glad to see it replaced with using maints exits or going to the HoP for an access request.
