Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!): Gladys “Granny” Gravel, an elderly marine who just refuses to retire. She always has little treats on her like cookies and chocolate to sneak to her comrades.

What made you join Funky Station?: Smug posted a link in RMC announcements and it made me curious.

Sure thing. So— Gladys grew up in a different era where there was a lot of food insecurity. She had to really work and fight for the scraps she got. And when her mother could scrape together enough sugar for a little cake on her birthday, that felt like a hug and a love language in its own right. Even though in modern day in the corps there are MREs galore and mess techs who will fill your belly, she still remembers what it felt like to get snuck those little treats. So in the quiet hours of the night, she’ll bake cookies in the mess hall to store on her. Or talk with the mess techs to help source some chocolate she can spend her spare change on. Because she’s seen what the horrors of war has done to her teammates— the “kids” as she calls them, even if they’re in their 40s— and she wants to give them a little hug in her own way to make things right. So she normally gives them a little homemade cookie after they recover from a serious injury or if the horrors of battle are getting to their mind.
