Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!): (I've curated this character for many years so apologies for the length.)
Eraukon hatched on Moghes in an era where weakness was exploited and hesitation was often fatal. The values instilled by his clan were simple: strength earned respect, respect maintained order, and order was the only thing standing between civilization and chaos. While many Unathi interpreted these lessons through warfare, Eraukon found another battlefield—security.
He left Moghes with a reputation for discipline and an understanding that laws only mattered if someone was willing to enforce them. Joining NanoTrasen's security programs, he quickly gained notice for producing results. Smugglers were caught. Syndicate cells were dismantled. Repeat offenders either learned their lesson or found themselves spending long stretches in the brig.
Eraukon was not known for kindness.
He was known for effectiveness.
As he rose through the ranks, his superiors discovered that stations under his watch ran smoothly. Crime rates dropped. Contraband seizures increased. Security departments became organized, professional, and feared. While some officers sought popularity among the crew, Eraukon considered that a distraction. Security was not there to be liked. Security was there to maintain order.
By the time he became Head of Security of TG Sector Station 14, his reputation had spread well beyond his own department. Criminals knew his name. Crew members knew that arguing technicalities with him rarely ended in their favor. His officers understood that incompetence would be corrected immediately and publicly.
He was fair.
But he was merciless.
Under Eraukon's leadership, Security became one of the most efficient departments in the sector. Patrols were tightened. Response times improved. Officers were drilled relentlessly. He encouraged initiative but punished failure. To many crew members he was intimidating. To repeat offenders, he was a nightmare.
The station's administration tolerated his methods because they worked.
Then came the shuttle disaster.
What began as a routine transfer became a catastrophe when the emergency transport suffered a massive navigation failure. As systems collapsed and panic spread through the vessel, Eraukon took command before anyone asked him to. He organized survivors, secured evacuation routes, and forced order onto a crowd rapidly descending into chaos.
Not everyone made it.
Eraukon made decisions that day that still follow him.
Sections of the shuttle were sealed to preserve atmosphere elsewhere. Evacuation priorities were established. Rescue resources were directed toward groups with the highest survival probability. Some passengers called those choices cold.
The survivors called them necessary.
When the wreckage was finally recovered, most aboard were dead. Nearly his entire command staff had been lost alongside countless civilians.
Eraukon survived.
The official investigation cleared him of wrongdoing, but survival brought little comfort. He had spent years building a department that could handle any crisis, only to watch it disappear in a matter of minutes. The company quietly reassigned him after the incident. New leadership took over TG Sector, and the disaster was buried beneath paperwork and corporate statements.
Now Eraukon serves aboard new stations as a veteran security officer carrying the habits of a commander. He is older, more experienced, and far less concerned with appearances than he once was.
He still believes security exists to protect the crew.
He also believes protection sometimes requires force, intimidation, and decisions others are unwilling to make.
Many officers view regulations as guidelines.
Eraukon views them as weapons.
The crew may complain about his methods. They may call him harsh, authoritarian, or uncompromising.
Because Eraukon learned a lesson long ago:
Order is not maintained through goodwill.
Order is maintained by those willing to do what others cannot.
