Have you helped with whitelists before, or played Nanotrasen Career Trainer on New Player Weekend? Please elaborate on which one.
I have played Nanotrasen Career Trainer before, and am looking forward to playing it again during our next new player weekend.
What tips you off that a player might be a good fit for Funky, if anything?
Someone who's not afraid to ask for help, or Ahelp. A pretty common trap people get themselves into is being afraid to ask for help, or Ahelp, especially Ahelping. It's one I had gotten myself into, where for a while, I was afraid to Ahelp things. If someone's not afraid of that? They'll be a good fit in Funky. As it shows a willingness to interact with others and learn.
Have you ever had an interesting or fun experience helping a new player? If so, tell us about it.
On my first round as Nanotrasen Career Trainer, science had a brand new player to SS14 as a whole. I helped them out, while trying to maximize the amount of roleplay they got. Of course, with my luck, this was on a ramping round, so I guided them somewhere, and went off heroically. (At least I tell myself that.)
How do you like to teach interns or new players, if at all?
Carefully, making sure to encourage roleplay. Something I see a little too often is people avoiding roleplay within their roles, (It's a trap I've fallen into before, in all honesty.). So, whenever I'm teaching a new player, I try to help them interact with other people, and learn how to roleplay.
What areas of the game would you say are your strong suit, if any?
It's probably just that I'm decently well-rounded at the game. I've got a good bit of game knowledge under my belt. I can confidently teach just about any department or role, and get down into some depth with the mechanics. I'm not an insane wizard with any particular department, but, I try to keep up with every department.
What is your favorite department? Why is it your favorite department?
Command. Quite simply, because I enjoy teaching people. It's something that I've done for a while, probably because in my friend groups, I'm often the designated teacher. So, I've grown to enjoy teaching people about things, especially if it's a game I love.
Tell us a fun fact you know about the game. The more niche, the better.
There's a wizard pen. As far as I can tell, there is no way to normally get this pen. It does not spawn on wizards, it does not spawn on wizard shuttles, it does not spawn in any loot pool, as far as I know. As far as it's use goes, it is just a purple colored CC pen. And I want it. No, I need it. I need wizard bureaucracy.
Tell us about a roleplay moment you fondly remember.
This moment comes from a round from a long while ago, but is one that became more hilarious because I reviewed the replay of the round. I had late joined as a security officer, and, shortly after, the event that messes up the crew manifest occurred. I had managed to get tons of evidence towards the capture of a thief. So, we were approved to search maintenance for this thief, and in the maints bar, I encountered a lawyer. I asked them for a search, as we were on blue at the time, and, they used a nocturine injector on me. They then proceeded to extract my mindshield, and began implanting me with a mind control implant. Now, while this was happening, the det and another officer were talking in sec. And the funny thing is, they were talking about all the evidence I had gathered towards the thief, and, because I wasn't on the crew manifest, they were doubting my legitimacy as an actual officer. And they were doing that as I was getting mind controlled. Suffice to say, the det had their suspicions "confirmed" about me later that shift. And also a couple bullets to the brain.
Are you committed to keeping up with mechanics changes and learning them so you may teach new players, and presenting a friendly, helpful face in our community?
Of course! Keeping up with everything new is a hobby of mine anyways.
Are you willing to assist admins with whitelists by helping look over and pre-approve them?
Of course! I'd be glad to help out.
