Discord Strike Appeal

Unknown, no moderator or admin has talked to me about this

Related Discussion (I think, I was given the strike approximately 12 minuets after it):
https://discord.com/channels/1276640157 ... 7780817920

Reason for Warning:
You have been striked in Funky Station: Rule 3. Excessive combativeness and attempt to continue argument after admin intervention.
You have been muted in Funky Station for 5 minutes: Reaching 1 strikes

What lead up to the warning:

  1. Events occurred in round that apparently needed greater admin discussion to resolve, which I did not know until it was noted in the conversation
  2. Some people brought up the rules question in regards to my actions that I responded to
  3. I simultaneously was having an SOP conversation around what is contained within NTR SOP, which I personally identified as a separate conversation than the rules conversation
  4. Elzoi posted "everyone pack it up. move the convo on please",
  5. I altered the msg I was typing to informed a game staff member (VictoriaFae) to hit me up in a ticket for complete reasoning if they would like it to be continued, as this is the proper place for longer rule discussions anyway.
  6. I continued the conversation that was not part of the rules question
  7. I was given a second warning, to which I sought clarification that "the convo" referred to both the rule conversation and the SOP conversation
  8. I was informed that it was so, and did not continue to talk

Why it should be removed:
"Excessive combativeness" I do not believe any of my messages are combative in relation to the admin orders.

"attempt to continue argument" I attempted to comply with the orders to my understanding.

I do not think I did anything wrong in informing a separate member of Game Staff that if they wanted to continue the rules based conversation with me it should be done in a ticket. Nor do I believe I did anything wrong in not understanding the vague orders that were given, especially as I complied after the vagueness being clarified.

Orders should be specific, and easy to understand. Punishing for misunderstanding unclear orders, or for seeking to clear up misunderstandings in orders is counter productive.

Hi, I'll be handling this appeal.

So, after talking about this with the other community mods, we decided to deny your appeal.

It seems you did not understand that the warning was about breaking rule 3 of the discord (Don't be a dick. Be respectful of others.), not simply disobeying an admin; the stated combativeness was in fact not against admins but with other users (Mora in this case).

This is not the first time you've acted this way (I'm not sure if you remember when I told you off yesterday for doing the same thing in #game-discussion) so the warning is very much warranted.

I'll also add that when looking at the conversation you linked, it seems quite clear that Elzoi told you to knock it off and you persisted despite that. Elzoi's injunction was quite clear and we fail to see how you could have misunderstood it in such a way.

I hope you now understand why this strike was issued.
I genuinely hope that you avoid such behaviour in the future. When talking with others on the discord, before sending a message, take a step back and think about how it comes off.
It's important not to be insulting. If you believe someone is mistaken, be kind and patient.

Thank you for the reply, I did not, I do not have the discord rules memorized by their number, and assumed putting words after a rule expressed that those that they were directly connected. Until this point I had recived no communication other than the strike itself on what the actual problem was so I had no reason to belive otherwise. It may seem extra, but if you are going to put it as a reason in strikes please add it as a rule to reference in the strike in the listed discord rules.

First I accept the strike based off of rule 3, though to clarify my intent was to come off as incredulous, given Mora is a consistant NTR player. While I personaly don't belive I was being particularly insulting in that conversation, if others belive so there's not much I can do about it.

Secondly while I accept the strike due to the first point I will further explain how I misunderstood the order. I have no expectation that it will effect the ruling.

"the convo" refers to a singular conversation, and normaly when giving orders to cease discussion about different things a specific conversation is pointed to, usually with a reason to stop said conversation so that people can better understand what exactly needs to stop so they dont make the same mistake in the future.

In this case, not having anything else to belive was an issue I ended the rules conversations telling Fae that should further explanations be needed I would be happy to explain it in a ticket. I am still unsure still why Elzoi was mad at me for saying that, given that would be the proper place for a rules based conversation.

As I saw no issue with the second conversation, and the order only mentioned a singular conversation I continued with the SOP wording clarification with Mori, and ceased after the order was clarified to include both conversations.

Thirdly, please ensure that communication and orders have proper clarity in the future. People cannot be expected to understand vague orders without misunderstandings, especially when over half of the community are autistic and thus take things more literally than may be intended.
