Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
I particularly enjoy playing machines whether that is cyborgs, AI, androids, etc. Something about the proximity to being human (or alive in certain settings) but just beyond it is just very fascinating to me. It was one of my favorite things to do back on SS13, and I'm sure it'll stay the same through SS14. It's very fun to be a bit of a lawyer with lawsets and the interpretation of orders, though I try to not be *too* rough about stuff. We're all here to have fun after all, and I don't do it OOC.

What made you join Funky Station?:
I watched a series of videos from ItsMaitake on Youtube and noticed the link in the bio. I appreciated that the people shown in the videos always seem to play their characters and react appropriately to things, and it made me check out the wiki. I like the concept of the metashield since it means people can react with the right gravitas to the weirdness that is SS14 and its myriad antagonists and entities. Just seemed like a good place for roleplaying, and that's what I'm all about.

Can you provide us with the personality or background of any specific character you've roleplayed as before? I'd like to know more about the non-cyborg characters you've played as in SS13 or the backgrounds you imagined your cyborgs might have had in game.

Sure.

I used to like to play a security officer as a beat-cop back in the day. I wasn't the most robust in the world, but I found great humor in rushing off to danger, looking around, and then snagging boxes of donuts to drag back to security for a snack. Just generally being what was effectively a mall-cop with a stun baton. It was hilarious.

More generally, I once played a Hiver in a Traveler TTRPG game. I was a funny little computer hacker with manipulative desires. Just constantly trying to get people to do things, regardless of their benefit. Made a man develop a gambling habit, quit the habit, and then redevelop it over the course of a small campaign. Not SS13 related, but it's a fun example.

As a cyborg, I liked to play very mechanically. I'm a big proponent of machines feeling like machines. I would ding and buzz, answer questions appropriately, and I was also a fan of being a bit circuitous in my volunteering of knowledge that wasn't explicitly requested. AI as a crapshoot is a good time, even when the AI is on your side.
