Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!): I recently played a hexblood (half-hag crossbreed) character titled Bethesda Magdalene in my friends' DND campaign. As a child her mother threw her under the bus to a hag's covenant for fame as a musician. She prayed for an escape, and one night, had a vision of freedom; lo, she found a narrow window of exit when a wandering adventurer with a cloaked face struck mayhem within the swamp. Bethesda then realized she may have been blessed with the gift of divination, or perhaps some form of indirect communication with the gods, but she had grown bitter and disillusioned after her time in the swamp. She used this newly discovered ability to become a wandering circus fortune teller, predicting future events accurately and then deliberately misleading clients with false positives for money. The circus' ringleader eventually came up with an odd job for her involving picking up an ancient family heirloom, which coincided with her awakening more abilities as a sorcerer. Being well traveled as a result of the circus' constant moving to other towns, and well experienced in self defense after being stuck up by angry clients demanding answers, she viewed it as a way to make an easy 400 gold. Everything fell apart as odd jobs for adventurers often do, and Bethesda found a way as the voice of the party with her snooty, bitchy nature somehow bringing with it a decent amount of charm to people she encountered. The old and jaded Bethesda had found slight kinship within her time with the adventurers, and she was happy about her newfound experience, but in her heart, she found no joy greater than scamming idiots with divination. But what purpose could such petty tricks have, now she had almost 15000 gold, and was renowned as a great sorcerer? One day, she found her answer. After retiring peacefully with all 15000 gold pieces in her basement, she was once intruded upon by some poor smucks thinking they could make a quick buck by robbing an old, strangely rich lady, on a rainy day. Unfortunately for them, Bethesda cast a Chain Lightning spell, eviscerating them all instantly into a smoking pile of ashes. But in the midst of this self defense, by some freak accident, she had struck her entire stash of gold. In this critical misfortune, she temporarily became the world's worst alchemist, turning Gold into Lead. At first she was horrified by her pension going kaput, but then she smiled, for she knew she could again find purpose in what she got the most joy out of. Bethesda died of old age much, much later, and became a best selling author for her coffee table reading material, including such titles as "151 Ways To Scam A Bunch Of Morons With Divination And Get Paid! A Guide For The Self-Starting Godhead" and "Magical Party Tricks To Make Your Fellows Say 'Delightful'".
What made you join Funky Station?: SS14 seems like an incredibly interesting game, and from watching my friends play I believe Funky Station to have a great server culture that appeals to me much more than any other available one. It would make me happy to be able to join and have fun with everyone else. ![]()
