Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
Broken floorboards, duct-taped windows, and obvious growths of black mould would seem to signify that whoever inhabits this dump cares not for themselves or the world around them. The miniscule gnome-like creature who is currently gnawing at the rusted pipes certainly seems fit to occupy this space to a T. In spite of this, the gnome-like creature does not ignore the outside world, but simply sees it for what it is instead of what it is not. The clogged sink is not a sign of degradation and past neglect, but a system. And the darkish-red on the pipes bellow is not a warning of incoming tetanus, but an opening. Indeed, as the pipe bursts and the basement slowly starts to flood, the gnome-like creature sees not a ruined half-basement, but a water basin.

Enjoy the thrill of bouldering, but must substitute boulders for brutalist structures because of their environment (linked to the half-basement escapade you just read)
Attempt to guide confused commuters while waiting for the bus
Procrastinate on their mandated coursework to write ostentatious posts on dead forums
(Don’t worry it’s not Funky Station forums, they don’t exist in their timeline due to chaos of the Cali-Hawaiian succession)

What made you join Funky Station?:
I saw a server on the server listing, clicked the lil ‘website’ button and saw the forums.
Obviously this isn’t the answer you’re looking for, so I’ll go more into detail. For what little time I have played, I have gotten the impression that a good portion of Space Station 14 is embroiled in its own tiny monoculture. Despite any ‘LRP’, ‘MRP’, or ('god forbid', the Space Station 14 adepts go), ‘HRP’ distinctions, Space Station 14 players seem to be ‘in’ with the ‘in-crowd’. If it makes that which I type clearer, an example: Despite playing through the same round as everyone else, in its final moments when out-of-character chat is enabled, that which the others type makes me feel that I have played a completely different game from everyone else. I don’t mean in the literal sense; it is self evident that everyone is playing different roles in different locations.
All this to say, fresh perspective is appreciated, but is currently in short supply. From what I’ve seen, admin ghosts huddle up to new players, as do the corporeal when excitedly teaching them their respective roles. I (possibly misguidedly) believe that this is not out of a fear that this new player will play the game wrong, but an excitement for it. It is a naivety those with hundreds of hours wish they could get back. When the newbie asks ‘what is tesloose’, it reminds them of a time they can never return to, as they cannot forget the terms, rules, and mechanics that have been ingrained into them.
For this reason, I hold very high hopes for your Forkiest of forks. That instead of playing a role to fit our character, our characters will fit into the roles we play. In less words, make role-playing easier.
(Also, I joined that one sandbox server Funky hosted a while ago, and I thought the Darkwood-esque cone of vision was really cool)
I have a feeling shop’s closing up soon, not for any one server in particular, but for Space Station 14 as a whole. And, for whatever small amount of time we have, I’d like to enjoy what is soon to be left.
