Your SS14 Username: Ryxander

Banning Admin's Username: Gostir

Role Ban, Server Ban, or Discord Ban: Server Ban - 12 hours

Round ID (if applicable): 14440

Reason for Ban: irresponsible antag gameplay

What lead up to the ban: I was playing a Changeling who was going to strike a deal with Command. Using the complete control over his body to erase scars off of copies of people and then mindswap while getting genomes legally. Managed to convince the captain to go with it and grabbed my target body for evac. We do the surgery and I find out changeling abilities are tied to the body, not the brain. Cap goes on a bit of a power trip with his newfound abilities. Bit of commotion over the radios about it. Ahelp asking for the situation occurs, and I explain. After a bit, another admin steps in (I think) and explains that I should be antagonizing and doing what a regular ling does, being a threat, then bans me for 12 hours.

Why you should be unbanned: I did not break any rules already available to me

Rule 10 - Play Antagonists Responsibly (ripped from git)(cut irrelevant parts out + emphasis)
The goal of an antagonist is above all else to create conflict (fun!!) within the station.

Generally, you should be following your objectives and avoiding just racking up a kill count as an undercover agent. Murderboning is only fun for the person doing it. Certain antagonists (Nuclear Operatives, space dragons) are exempt from this.

Lone Antagonists (Traitors, Heretics, Changelings) are not required to work together or with other Team/Lone Antagonists. Team Antagonists (nukeops, zombies, revolutionaries) must work together at all times.

I was completing my objectives without risking death, which was another one of my objectives. I was also creating unique conflict that wasn't just the same loop of 'wander into maints, die, sec kills ling'. Medical and Command both got unique scenarios and roleplay that rarely happens with antags. Nowhere in Rule 10 does it say Antagonists have to be threats. I was punished for something allowed by the rules as they are written, so I shouldn't have been banned. The way it looks is the admins are making up and enforcing unwritten rules. I feel the ban should be removed from my record because I was playing within the written rules while creating unique roleplay scenarios.

Hi, I'll be handling this appeal as the ban time is under 3 days and thus does not require a full team vote on the appeal. However the team did have a discussion regardless and are in agreement.

This is a prime example of irresponsible antag play. Walking up to the captain and offering a deal is not "conflict". It's in fact the exact opposite of conflict as you're avoiding conflict by offering a deal. If you want to play an antagonist, you have to be willing to be antagonistic, and act as an antagonist in the context of the story of the round. If the gameplay of a given antagonist is not something you like, you shouldn't be clicking the button that tells the game you want to be that antagonist.

To be extra specific about your misunderstanding here, and the fundamental misunderstanding on the definition of the word Antagonist.

Nowhere in Rule 10 does it say Antagonists have to be threats

The actual definition of the word Antagonist:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/antagonist

one that contends with or opposes another

You did not contend with or oppose the station in any way, thus you were not an antagonist.
