Dedication To Learn All Things was born in a Nanotrasen-sponsored research facility as part of what would become known as the Pseudo-positronic Augmentation and Regulation Experiments. The goal was to bioengineer Thaven with more predictable mood patterns which could be easily controlled in the workforce. DNA was sourced from anonymous donors, and then spliced together to create fifteen valid subjects, although only six made it past infancy due to complications.
Initially, they were believed to be a resounding success, displaying little volatile behavior and being easily directed. In their early childhood, they complied with tests and showed exceptional drive to learn and follow orders. Then, at six years old, events following tests into electromagnetic interference (colloquially known as the "screwdriver incident") led to their brainwaves being further analyzed, only to discover they aligned with that of a control subject Thaven.
Despite the experiment being a failure and later decomissioned due to lack of funding, Dedication was singled out for their notable compliance and obedience to higher authority, and was eventually schooled to begin work for Nanotrasen. When asked which department they showed most interest in, they requested to be regularly rotated between departments, so they can learn all they could. It was then that they picked up their common name, Dedication To Learn All Things, and began their work in space in earnest.
Dedication initially appears emotionally detached and distant from their coworkers, but with time can grow to become incredibly fond of those they work with, especially those who take time to teach them. Coworkers have noted that they have little social awareness, which can often lead to misunderstandings when communication is unclear. It is recommended to keep them away from colleagues who tend to have a more 'freeform' approach to their work and SoP, as it can easily cause a chain reaction of mood imbalances. They perform best when given clear expectations and directions by superiors in their department, and recieve praise and recognition for their work.
