Surichichimo (Prime Timeline)

Surichichimo, a Vox who has spent more decades in Nanotrasen's service than most crewmembers have been alive. He is small for his species, slight of frame, with feathers that have greyed around the edges from age and stress. His most striking feature is the empty socket where his right eye used to be, a permanent reminder of an attack that nearly ended him. His remaining eye is a warm, tired gold.
His knees are bad, his hips ache on cold days, and he pads around the station in absurd green lizard slippers that have become his unofficial trademark. The slippers are unofficially permitted by medical staff to mitigate the joint pain that decades of service have earned him.
Suri's career began in the depths of space as a frontier salvager and mercenary. It was dangerous work that taught him technical precision, tactical foresight, and a healthy distrust of corner-cutting, lessons that nearly killed him when a ruptured gas line ignited during a mission, leaving him with severe burn scarring across his chest and a new perspective on life. The near-death experience, combined with coming to realize he'd rather not die alone scrapping in space, pushed him to apply for Nanotrasen's Security Division.
As a security officer, he quickly earned a reputation for being determined to the point of recklessness, the kind of officer who would hold a line long after smarter people would have retreated. That stubbornness reached its apex during a Gorlex Marauder raid on a station he was on, when he held alone to cover evacuating crew, buying them precious seconds with nothing but a laser rifle and sheer stupidity. The Marauder who attacked him took his eye as a "trophy" and left him to bleed out in the dark. He was pulled to safety by then Head of Security Justice-Calls, a rescue that saved his life and changed both their futures forever.
After recovering, Suri served as Warden for several years, overseeing with a pragmatic philosophy that balanced firmness with fairness. He believed in rehabilitation where possible, accountability where necessary, and totally never let personal feelings interfere with duty, though his attachment to the Reptilian who'd saved him made that increasingly complicated. The Warden years taught him how to manage people.
With increasing age, chronic injury, and operational fatigue, Central eventually reassigned him to administrative duty, a quiet retirement from Security service framed as a promotion. Now, as Head of Personnel, Suri oversees with the same-yet wiser competence he brought to every role before. He mentors new staff with a patience that surprises those who only know his reputation. He advocates for his people, and turns a blind eye to the horrors of being in Nanotrasen Command.
Suri is, by nature, a protector. It is the through-line of his entire life: protecting salvage crews from unsafe practices, protecting evacuating personnel during the raid that took his eye. That protective instinct just now manifests in quieter ways, mentoring new staff, advocating for crew, keeping a watchful eye on the station's pulse from his office in Personnel.
His personality is a study in contrasts. He is pragmatic to the point of bluntness, with a dry wit that tends to catch people off guard. He is deeply caring but expresses it through action rather than words, showing up, fixing problems, being present. He is capable of sitting in comfortable silence for hours, but his presence fills a room nonetheless. His laugh, that infamous, unsettling "ACK ACK" a sound that can mean amusement, nervousness, or barely-contained exasperation depending on the situation.
He carries his trauma visibly, the missing eye, the burn scarring across his chest from a salvage accident, the hypervigilance that never quite switches off, the nightmares that still wake him gasping on bad nights. But he also carries his love just as visibly, for Justice-Calls, his partner of decades, the Reptilian who pulled him from the dark and refused to let him go; and for Darcy, their adopted daughter, the light of his life.
As Head of Personnel, Suri is known for being quick, fair, approachable, and effective. He keeps multiple identical pairs of green slippers in rotation. He is, despite everything he's survived, still here.

Now that I'm done with the main yap we can get into the timeline explanation.

Surichichimo's timeline is split into two segments. The "Prime" timeline and the Syndicate one. This split happens during the Gorlex raid, in the Syndicate timeline, Justice does not save Suri and Suri gets taken hostage and held for ransom by the Syndicate due to his relations with Justice. Nanotrasen however Nanotrasen terminates Suri's contract and effectively leaves him to die. The Syndicate uses this as an opportunity to recruit him. This is told throughout several stories I've written that are available on the Toyhou.se pages.
