Restricted roles development

This is more of a discord question so I'm unsure if it really fits the bill. Despite that, I think it's something many people have asked and I'm sure this question will help sort things out.

There are many roles in discord that allow you to talk in restricted channels, the one I am specifically interested in is the #sop-workgroup. You need to have the SOP/Space law role but there are no clear way to join this group unless you bug an admin about it. There are also other channels like this, for example, medical workgroup, resprite-workgroup and etc...

I wish there was an actual way to present your interest in this group and be reviewed. I don't wanna DM or ping an admin only for it as it feels intrusive and a bit like spam. Is there any way I can request the role or should I really just ping/dm an admin for it?

It can fit.

The very easy, simple way to let us know you want a role is to make a ticket. #create-a-ticket is the best way to always contact us even if you don't want to "bug" us. You're not really bugging us.

If we wanted to give you guys the options to "opt-in" for the role like others, we would add it to the roles. However, these are actual workgroups and are not an open discussion board. These are for people who WANT to work on it.

Having anyone be able to opt in would increase the likelihood of it turning into another general chat.

Edit: You are also never bugging us by asking for roles. And if you really are concerned, you can always DM/ask me as my DMs are always open for people.
