I used to do a comms briefing but I got tired of going through the same things constantly. So I just made an "operational expectations" form that I send to the IAA office roundstart and if they have any questions they can ask. It also makes for great reference so they don't have to ask in the future.
I also make an effort to keep note of every IAA I see and if I see one that I'm not familiar with I'll usually ask them if they're new since I don't recognize them. I love to sit and train new IAAs, every IAA I've trained has become some of my most effective ones it's great.
Overall though playing as a CCV is fun because you can just be wildly pedantic about stuff and act like a haughty asshole. I love the rounds where people are doing stupid shit and I get to do an ungodly amount of paperwork.
Probably my favorite thing is that Surichichimo as an NTR is known for being an unhinged little freak when in reality he is probably the most patient and relatively reasonable NTR otherwise. OOC I tend to follow an escalation path when it comes to punitive measures.
Warning + having the relevant head of staff talk with the person -> Class 1 if behavior doesn't improve -> Class 2 if it goes further or behavior still doesn't improve.
I may skip over the warning to a class 1 if it's something especially egregious however majority of the time a warning suffices.
Probably something that frustrates me with a lot of other CCV players, especially NTR/Magis, is that they don't document enough. I'm always documenting in detail everything that leads up to a punitive measures, regardless if it's a proper job report or just one of the letters I send to CC. You should always be sending this documentation to CC even if you're not getting a response because it shows a proper chain of escalation to the admins that led to this occurring.
Something else that bugs me about some CCVs is that they'll see someone who is obviously new to something and instead of giving some leniency they make it more difficult for that player. I.e a new chemist learning chems getting harassed by CCVs for not having basic chems out yet. Thats not enjoyable for a new player and could lead to them not wanting to learn that role further (I don't think NT would be very happy with their IAAs running new hires off now would they?).
You should be giving them grace and try to find someone who can teach them in their department. It is a department head's job to ensure all their employees are trained properly.
