When Is It Self-antag?

Post by twomad »

Okay, so if I want to do a little funny tiding and law breaking, what is the limit until it reaches self-antag?

Asking for a friend... Also greytiding. :thistbh: :thistbh: :thistbh: :godo:

There is no such thing as Self-Antagging, although the offense of Self-Antagging exists via the two new rules we have instead. We want our players to actual have more depth of roleplay, and that includes some aggression or retaliation. Escalation rules state that you can escalate a situation that is aggressive or hostile for either parties via a sequence of escalatory actions. That means, it can start out as just aggressive talk, hurling insults, etc. At that point, once the tense situation has been established, you can escalate it further if the situation is fit. You can then proceed to retaliatory actions, like minor sabotage or pranks, etc. which then naturally leads to violence, and finally putting someone into the critical state.

As crew, you are meant to be normal(ish) people, working a normal job. This means that you can't be a "crazed lunatic" or "hyper-aggressive" person who responds to an insult with blowing them up. That is what we would consider "Over-escalation"

Over-escalation means skipping these intermediate steps in the stages of escalating a situation. It also includes acting out of character in accordance with our rules. Sure, if you say your character "would just do that" or "they are like that", but it breaks our rules about the limits of what normal crew can be, it would be considered rule-breaking.
