Scarlet round 16459, and the encouragement of poor behavior for new players.

Your SS14 Username: Spleebis

Admin's In-Game Username: MasterElzoi

Round ID (if applicable): 16459

Reason for Complaint: A defense of some pretty heavy power-gaming. To be honest its more about the ruling than the 'min.
Starting events: on green: Patroling maints.

Then Coscult converts some new players only for them to instantly make swords and die fighting sec for literally no reason exposing the cult.

What followed was an hour of red, building 4 gygaxes(I only saw 3 personally) the final 2 being built after it went blue again.

During the last 20ish minutes (blue) they mind-shielded anyone found in maints (i was arrested without a stated reason and mind-shielded without a stated reason as mime.) and patrolling in groups of 3 or more with gygaxes.

Coscult lost. That was my assumption going into the round and I wasn't surprised.
There was like 3 or 4 instances of violence total that round from what I can tell, all involving small numbers of players. The reaction was comically overkill.
While not technically wrong this response to people ahelping it makes me question if anything is power gaming (besides mechanics the contributors dont like. such as jugs existing, but that isnt player action.) Image

The game in its current balance state basically relies on Coscult rounds ignoring the cult for a while (same with robo antags) because they are so blatantly obvious, and not patrolling on green for all antag types because it just smothers the round in the crib or forces everyone to drop RP to survive.

So I'm truthfully a bit confused about what this is. Admin complaints are set for admins who overstep in their roles and need to be called out. From what I'm aware, Elzoi was not adminning and was playing. If this is a ruling issue, I am still unsure what this accomplishes because this still writes out as an issue with the coscult gamemode and not the admin(s). This would be something that needs to be addressed with the development team/maintainers.

TLDR: This entire thing reads like a gameplay issue and needs to be taken to the development/forky chats. Admins are not developers, even if we overlap at times. From what I was told as well, there wasn't even admins on for a majority of this round because our trials cannot admin without a junior or fullmin present. I'm unsure if context is missing due to your picture; but this is not an admin complaint and while I'm responding to it I want to be clear this is not being considered as such.

Starting events: on green: Patroling maints.

This has never, and will never, be an actual rule. It is a courtesy to antags that the security team can choose to do or not. If your HOS calls it for the shift, that is also their choice as they run the SEC department. But it will never be enforced and I will never enforce it. This is something players made up and use to allow antags to have their place and set up. But, that doesn't mean it will happen every time.

Then Coscult converts some new players only for them to instantly make swords and die fighting sec for literally no reason exposing the cult.

This is just the unfortunate problem of new players and new antag players. But I think more people need to understand that this is a risk you take and need to plan accordingly, assuming these things.

What followed was an hour of red, building 4 gygaxes(I only saw 3 personally) the final 2 being built after it went blue again.

From what we know, this was robotics' choice to make them. Also opens up the opportunity for the cult to take over robotics and use them for themself.

During the last 20ish minutes (blue) they mind-shielded anyone found in maints (i was arrested without a stated reason and mind-shielded without a stated reason as mime.)

Once a threat like coscult/bc (once upon a time revs too), security has full backing on doing these sort of things. You can resist! But you also have to understand that you're also resisting something they are allowed to legally do at that point.

The game in its current balance state basically relies on Coscult rounds ignoring the cult for a while (same with robo antags) because they are so blatantly obvious, and not patrolling on green for all antag types because it just smothers the round in the crib or forces everyone to drop RP to survive.

Maintainer / Developer issue. But when coscult fails, or any antag fails, you guys need to learn to be comfortable with making your own RP and exploring more without needing antags to carry the round enjoyment. As this seems to be on Scarlet this was also a new player weekend, which is generally less... good than our normal servers/rounds because it invites non-whitelisted people. And that's just what comes with the territory of open weekends.

Refusal of mindshielding is a fifth degree crime when it gets enforced too.
