Admin Complaint - ferynn

Post by TrixxedHeart »

Your SS14 Username: TrixxedHeart

Admin's In-Game Username: ferynn

Round ID (if applicable):

  • 14058

  • 17064

  • 17066

Reason for Complaint:
I'm going to start with each round, what happened, and how I believe it was mishandled by the admin in question.

#14058 - Core (March 15th 2026)
This round was rather hectic and one of my IAAs (who I won't specifically name) had decided to go check on Salvage. This led to an altercation with the IAA in question (from my knowledge/recount of what I remember happening) getting kidnapped by Salvage. I continuously requested Security to do something about it however they were not. At some point I was attacked by a clown with an energy sword for destroying their stamped "AA" form. Hilarious.

While I am dead (note I don't really often ghost/observe or really pay attention when I'm dead unless I'm going to be dead for a long time, so I'm not 100% sure what happened) apparently the IAA who was kidnapped by Salvage had used a breaching charge to blow up the Reclaimer and bluespaced themselves, and apparently the other IAA had died and bluespaced as well. Both IC and OOC I'm completely unaware of this because:

  1. My character would not have reasonably known that either IAA had died during this time period unless someone told them so.
  2. OOC I was not going around observing the round to see whats going on. And even if I had been I would not be allowed to use that information IC to be aware that both IAAs had died.

By time Medical finishes treating me and I get up and head back to the Bridge to get reoriented I get an ahelp from ferynn informing me about what had happened to the two IAAs. I don't have the exact ahelp in question saved nor remember the exact wording ferynn used, however I remember it being furstrating and anxiety inducing. It made me feel as though I as a player had done something wrong by not knowing what happened to the two IAAs right off the bat and immediately dealing with it.
I had already been attempting to have the one situation with Salvage handled by Security but wasn't able to due to reasons I'd rather not explain in this post (but I had ahelped about it during the round if I recall correctly), if further details are wanted on what I believe what was happening (unrelated to the admin/complaint), I'd rather speak about it privately in a ticket.

Overall this, in my personal overdramatic opinion was detrimental to me as someone who was still relatively new to playing NTR at the time and was still trying to get the hang of things.

#17064 - Court (July 18th 2026)
Around the start of the round the Head of Security had given the Warden a command key. I personally believe this is powergaming (similarly to a Command member grabbing the deckard from the vault roundstart for example) so I ahelped it.

Ferynn was the one who responded and was essentially gave direction to handle it IC with the Captain. I was fine with this and thought it'd be fun! I did what I usually do and spoke with the Captain IC who agreed the Warden should not have had the command key due from the angle of it being a vector of unnecessary exposure of Corporate Secrets and the Captain said they'd speak to the HOS about it.

During this time (from my knowledge) Security was dealing with a shooter in Cargo (that lead to the death of the QM) and a bombing around Botany/Chapel. So the decision was made to wait until those situations had been handled to speak to the HOS about it. I asked the IAA to watch and write about the situation, and I started writing my own report to CC about what had occured with the QM and the situation with the Warden's headset. While I'm in the middle of writing I get another ahelp from ferynn asking if I'm working on the thing. Of which I was.
This kind of irked me because it made me feel like I was not being trusted to handle the situation as a player but I wasn't going to make a fuss out of it.

At some point later I'm waiting in Security to see if the Captain would come in and handle it, I don't want to step on the Captain's toes when they said they would do it as many people have an issue with CCVs taking over such things from the Captain when it's unnecessary, and in this situation I found it unnecessary since the Captain said they would deal with it, and was planning to remind the Captain over comms if they hadn't come in yet.

I get another ahelp from ferynn asking if I had spoken to the HOS about it at all yet. Now I'm frustrated because it feels as though:

  1. Again, I'm not being trusted as a player to handle the situation myself.
  2. I was being pushed by an admin to act in a way I felt was unnatural roleplay-wise and detrimental.

In the ahelp I'm was not really able to communicate this properly because I did not want to come off as standoffish or argumentative, especially since I was already frustrated with the admin in question.

This eventually led to having the IAA speak with the HOS instead and resulting in an RP scene that didn't really feel good despite it handling the situation.

#17066 - Eden (July 18th 2026)
This is a much smaller one but still represents a pattern and gripes I have with the way the admin in question handles situations.

During the round the AI is said to be compromised and Security runs into the Bridge and asks me to help them get into the AI core. I oblige and stick nearby to help them with any other doors. During this point there is someone in a redsuit near the AI core doing whatever and I'm sticking far back to avoid any heat and observe what's going on. I decide this is Not My Problem and begin to leave when I suddenly get another ahelp from ferynn asking why I'm there, which, I feel was unnecessary and delayed my response leaving. Once again pulling me out of my immersion and feeling untrusted as a player to handle things.

Overall
The way this admin handles situations feels very pushy, immersion breaking, and has made me feel untrusted as a player on multiple occasions now.

Personally, if you'd ask me the way I wish these situations were handled:

  • #14058 - I wish this had simply been a CC fax sent in informing me that two of the IAAs had been bluespaced instead of directly being told to me in an ahelp. If further information was needed I wish it had been worded differently in a way that wasn't just directly telling me that the two IAAs had been bluespaced and making it feel like my fault, I understand some admins don't like to do faxes but just a simple "hey, we saw two agents bluespaced, figure out what happened" would've been nice and felt less intimidating at the time.

  • #17064 - I was fine with this interaction up until being asked "have you talked with the HOS about it at all" I would've preferred nothing or again, perhaps a CC fax asking for an update.

  • #17066 - Just felt unnecessary, I don't believe this was a situation where an admin had to give any intervention once so ever as I had been keeping a safe distance and had already decided to leave by this point, again just feeling badgered and untrusted as a player.

And I do want to say that Ferynn has absolutely provided me good experiences in the past. There was a time (I'm assuming it was ferynn?) in the past had used subtle message to direct me to do something which I find felt significantly better feeling than times such as what happened in the Court round. I just find these times to have not been detrimental and seeing it a pattern I wanted to bring it up.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I can check our logs of ahelps for the first one as we have that in our Discord, but I can see what you mean by feeling overstepped and feeling as if the admin does not trust you to handle things.

I appreciate that you felt comfortable enough to report this. I will make sure that this is discussed, and I hope that in the future you can have better interactions!
