What led up to the ban:
I played as an Engineering Cadet for three consecutive rounds because I was new to engineering in SS14 and wanted to learn how to operate the Supermatter and its cooling system.
During the first two rounds, I accept that I did not yet understand the complete setup and that mistakes during my attempts may have contributed to the delaminations. However, none of this was intentional. I was genuinely attempting to configure and operate the system, not sabotage the station.
By the third round, I had learned considerably more. Another engineer was working in the area with me, and we cooperated normally throughout the shift. I am not mentioning him to assign responsibility. My point is that this was a genuine engineering attempt, not an intentional effort to destroy the Supermatter.
We established what appeared to be a functioning cooling setup. The nitrogen was circulating, the cooling system was operating, and the crystal appeared stable. I monitored its condition closely, including after throwing several objects into it. At the time, I genuinely did not know that throwing objects into the Supermatter could add energy to the crystal or contribute to a later delamination. I believed that the objects were simply destroyed.
When I disconnected, the crystal was still stable, the cooling system was running, and there were no critical warnings or obvious signs of an imminent delamination. I do not know what occurred after I left. The logs should show the condition of the Supermatter at the time of my disconnect.
I disconnected because I had already played for three consecutive rounds and needed to deal with something in real life. It was not an attempt to escape staff intervention. I returned approximately 25 minutes later and discovered the ban when I attempted to reconnect.
Why you should be unbanned:
I accept responsibility for the mistakes I made while learning, particularly during the first two rounds. However, I disagree with the conclusion that my actions were deliberate raiding or intentional sabotage.
These three rounds taught me a significant amount about the Supermatter, including its cooling system, gas configuration and the risks of adding objects to the crystal. I now understand that throwing objects into the Supermatter can destabilise it, and I will not repeat that action in future.
By the third round, I believe I had made substantial progress and established a cooling system that appeared stable before I disconnected. I respectfully ask that the logs be reviewed, especially the Supermatter's condition at the moment I left the server.
I was playing an Engineering Cadet and attempting to learn a complex system through practical experience. Mistakes occurred, but none of them were intentional. I have learned from them and will make every reasonable effort to prevent future delaminations. Based on the absence of malicious intent and the progress I made across the three rounds, I believe a permanent server ban is disproportionate and should be reconsidered.
