My favorite thing is being able to solve problems. I'm a weird type - I greatly enjoy engineering challenges, but sandboxy engineering games (like factorio, satisfactory, and the like) bore me because while there may be a "challenge" in there its not really a challenge. A challenge is something you must or are obligated to do - it's not a challenge if you can just walk around it or not engage with it at all and still get to whatever the destination is (which in a sandbox, is nowhere)

I like when there is a genuine problem which obstructs a genuine goal and I can solve that problem - especially when the goal is cooperatively shared. I like that I am on a server with other players who need me and the rest of the department to do our job in order for the round to continue as normal. I like having a responsibility to other people, having a role or job that genuinely helps other people. I like that I can come up with and execute crazy designs involving complex engineering for the sole sake of generating money for the department or station; or making drugs for people to take, or just teaching new players the ins and outs. Space Station 14 is not a sandbox - it's a cooperative storytelling experience and I am happy to be the engineer working quietly in the background to keep the lights on for everyone else. I'm happy to be a sort of setpiece or backdrop to the main event; or occasionally the engi antag that wrecks absolute hell on the station.
