Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!): I've played a DND character that was a Kalashtar Paladin named Ash'tel Vadrik. He had psionic abilities which assisted in his role of being a highly devout Paladin that did whatever was necessary to reach the root of any evil wherever he travelled, including less glamorous deeds like interrogation. He was stoic and highly dutiful, but his softer side would show when enjoying camaraderie alongside those who travelled with him. While searching for holy relics, he stumbled across a powerful book that overcame his senses and warped his mind into thinking that the book was also a holy relic wielded by a benevolent god. The self-centered god behind the book abused its hold over Ash'tel and manipulated his actions to bring him and his party to a pedestal, whereupon the illusion was broken last minute. Although an attempt was made to destroy the book when its true nature was revealed, another party member came under its grasp and fulfilled the books wishes, placing it upon the pedestal and awakening an ancient dragon god who promptly escaped and wreaked havoc upon the kingdom. After this failure he underwent a potentially lifelong pilgrimage to redeem himself. A standout favorite moment for me was when I had to somehow have my paladin justify the inky and intimidating magic that would constantly exude from the book relic while at the same time it was speaking into his mind offering advice.
