Reason for Ban:
" Said the R slur in OOC while quoting a game. We have zero tolerance policy for bigotry on funky station."

What lead up to the ban:
The OOC postround somewhat ended on the topic of DE and people were quoting, so i also quoted, somewhat inaccurately, one of my favoirite scenes in the game.

Why you should be unbanned:
While the word itself can be a slur when targeted at people I do not believe that by quoting a game I was being bigoted towards anybody, especially when it was not implying that someone is behaving similarly to Harry. The word itself is not a slur at the level of the Nword or similar since it is still used in the language in other meanings, for instance in electrodynamics. Therefore while I should have shown some better judgement and not said it/abbreviated it I do not believe that, within spirit of the rules, it is worth of an appeal permaban.

Hello, I will be handling this appeal today. With a vote of 0/14/1, accept/deny/other, with other being a permanent unappealable ban, the admin team has voted to deny your appeal.

As you have been made aware, we have a zero tolerance policy regarding slurs and bigotry. What this means, is that when handling slurs or bigotry, admins are not permitted to consider the circumstances, nor exercise any discretion regarding the punishment. Any occurrence of this will be met with an appeal only ban. The reason we do this is to make sure that any instance of these topics gets reviewed by the entire admin team in an appeal, and perhaps most importantly, because Funky is no place for slurs or bigotry.

Then, taking the circumstances into account as you have outlined them in your appeal, the admin team has still decided to deny your appeal. We do not equivocate between slurs as being more or less bad to others, and do not allow slur usage even if mentioning them in the abstract, or in common usages of other fields.

Considering all this, the admin team is allowing you to re-appeal this ban in a months time. However, if you are comfortable with casual slur usage, or think it should not be against the rules, then we would not consider Funky the right server and community for you.
