What are your thoughts on Mimes?

Post by Heroisk »

Xetrakaka AKA 'Rainbow Veil'
The end of shift drawled near. Right next to the evacuation point, sat a mime on a desk. It mimicked the many times it sees HoP sitting at the desk slightly bored until someone showed up. When the vox spotted someone, it snapped it's claws together, and pointing towards them, before pointing towards the paper in front of it. It's hands clapped together, pointing towards the person in-front of it, before pointing back to itself.

Due to the shift coming to a close, and the need for it's artistry coming to a close, the vox did not mind writing upon the paper.

'What are your thoughts on Mimes?' There was also a mime approval stamp, stamped down on the paper at the bottom.

The vox wanted to know what the other crews thought, knowing well that other mimes might be less focused on the arts of being a mime, and more of a silent clown. It took pride in the art, and awaited for anyone who would respond, swaying back and forth ever so slightly. The vox was prepared to mimic anyone who started to give them a list, pretending to jot notes down.

Re: What are your thoughts on Mimes? - Relilikav (IAA)

Slinking into evacuation early came another vox, one dressed in a crisp, freshly pressed suit and carrying a briefcase chock full of paperwork. One who was very poorly hiding the fact that he was here to avoid squeezing more work into his day. Relilikav startled slightly at the mime's snapping, clearly not expecting the other. Once he realized who exactly was asking for his attention, however, he very quickly starts looking down his beak at the other vox's little setup- which does very little to make him look intimidating in any way, shape, or form, considering his diminuitive size.

"And what's all this?" he asks, clearly unimpressed. When the mime points at the paper, his brow raises.

"Technically against SOP," he muses airily, "But I suppose I shall let it slide."

More likely than not, he's avoiding filling out more paperwork.

"Mimes are..." Relilikav ponders a moment, clicking his talons against the handle of his briefcase, "...well, I will admit, many of them, much like clowns, cause me to wonder why NanoTrasen, in all its wisdom, hires them in the first place."

He looks rather pointedly at Xetrakaka, but seems to refrain from any particularly cutting comments.

"I will admit that I've seen a few actually creative ones," he continues as others start to file into evac, intent on ending the conversation, "But overall, they could do better."

He turns his beak up and stalks off. To be entirely fair, you didn't exactly expect a glowing review from him.

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES

Stepping into the room next came an exhausted looking violet thaven flipping through the many pages on their clipboard and shuffling them around. They were so engrossed with the task they didn’t notice a percariously placed puddle until it was far too late.

“Oh de-ear!” They exclaimed, picking over the pile of session notes and prescription slips that had been strewn on the floor.

When the thaven had managed to pick most of them up, they finally looked up to see a small crowd looking at them. Including, of course, the Head of Personel. Their cheeks turned warm.

“I’m sor-ry your majesty! I didn’t mea-an to… what’s this?” Quickly distracted from the head, Rose began reading over a paper handed to them by the mime.

“M-me?” In a moment Roses handed it back to the mime. They looked between the head and the mime, relaxing a bit.

“They’re lov-vely to wor-rk with, when I get the ch-chance to. The-ey tend n-not to stop by the psychologist of-ffice often, due to their… obligati-tion not to speak.” They glance towards the mime, tensing as if waiting for disapproval, but when they found none they continued.

“But I ap-ppreciate them br-brighten-ning up the halls, the sam-me gr-rays and blues can get a bit… t-tiring. Change is vital to ens-suring workpla-aces aren’t drain-ning—“

Just as they finished speaking, Roses flinched at an assistant hurriedly whispered something into Roses’ ear, which was met with a polite nod.
“Oh, yes, of-f course. I’ll ask the-em about it.”

Stop and Smell the Roses gave a parting wave to the two. “I shou-uld attend to th-that,” they said sheepishly. “Thanks for the question!”

With that, the thaven quietly disappeared into the steadily growing crowd coming into evacuation, to wait for the shuttle, leaving only one blank paper behind in their wake.
