Post by purplepop »

im asking this due to my curiosity on how people make their characters. Do more people play the game barely to roleplay? do people play to play a character with deep lore and backstory? Do people play med just to go around and inject people with narcotics?
I WANT TO KNOW!!!

Personally in Spess Stesson first i create a character with a few personality strokes and then I toss them there into a few rounds with a general idea, to expose the character to shifts and see how it develops, if it clicks for me then i develop their background further.

This is something i only do in this game since the shifts are around 2 hours (at Funky) and after that, everybody is a stranger again next shift. For example my first char is Jalen Capmbell, she started as a regular woman with regular hobbies and interests that simply liked working as a blue collar with her hands and ended up getting into Engineering, I even made her blonde, because I recalled not seeing almost nobody with blonde hair, all the contrary, most humans had some sort of vivid color hair, and wanted to make her look the most baseline possible.

In the end she developed into a typical USA southern belle in appearance and accent, she is now named Jane Lee Campbell, an ex colonial combat engineer that was discharged from the Corp after developing PTSD in a colony after a traumatic event where she survived by pure chance, so after being discharged she took a deal with NT with proficiency to work into Engineering and SEC departments.

On the other side i have Khane Ein who is more a meme named character with some credibility on it, who is basically a dude that want just to chill on his shifts, get his paycheck and go home as soon as possible, he is still developing as i toss him more and more into shifts.

So yeah being a player more interested in RP than gimmicks i put some weight behind them, a pity that all the progress resets every shift, that's why I am getting interested into trying a persistence server to see how it feels to playing my characters there.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
