The character I have played the most in SS14 is Cora Smith. She is a war veteran in her early thirties. She went to war to provide for her family in a brutal SOLGOV colony. She enlisted at sixteen (dystopian standards) and spent nearly a decade in the army, being deployed many times during those years (yes, I played marines), until she came back to an empty house.
Her family had died during an insurgency. Her brother had enlisted as well, but died in service. By her early thirties, she had lost everything.
After that, she sold her labor to megacorporations like Nanotrasen. She had a short but explosive career as a security officer. But she still cannot shoot anything that begs to live. It is simply too heartbreaking for her.
Context: I have many hours as security, and I play HoS most of the time. I started playing sec because I hated how people acted as security. So I play Cora: a very decisive soldier, but still a softie who always prioritizes saving the crew.
I also love TTRPGs, but I’ve been playing for two decades now. I can’t really mention my characters (I can’t choose just one). I am the DM most of the time. I’ve been looking to play on Funky because Cirno stays high pop even late at night. I like high pop
