One of my favourite D&D characters was a Vengeance Paladin named Trystam of the Tower. I usually like playing flawed/anti hero characters. Trystam had a dour exterior, quite unlikable it was really to mask their wavering faith, so that no one (like the party Rogue that had a good point) could crack him open. Every night, after every villain slain, he thinks to himself; could the ultimate evil ever be destroyed or was his role simply to be a mirror, another side of the same coin?
