Antag rules, hostages and station-wide threats!

Post by BrickKent »

hi funkymins! i'm curious of what the limits for antags are before it becomes irresponsible antagging.
so what i'd like to know is:

-can less violent antags like ninjas take hostages to complete their objectives

-can traitors threaten mass violence (mass shootings, bombings, mass sabotage) to complete their objectives and can they act on those threats?

-can an antag crit/kill people outside of their objectives in order to obtain things for or protect their objective? (ex: ninja critting sec for id, traitor killing someone who spotted them buying a surplus crate, cult killing someone they couldn't convert, etc)

-can antag solve a normally violent objective through less violent means? (ex: deals, bribery, persuasion, etc)

these are all the situations i can think of for now, thanks for helping out!

Less violent antags can take hostages, but i would not recommend round removing them as a threat unless they are relevant to your objective i.e a kill objective

Traitors unless dagd should try to complete their objectives quickly and discretely. Hardbombs as diversions are fine, because there its lots of warning. Clustergrenading a room is not. The issue with allowing any threats to be made then acting on them, grants the ability for any antag to do dagd level shit because they threatened first. So try to keep it within the scope of your objectives. As mentioned before though, taking hostages is fine.

Killing someone to further your objective is always fine. Round removing them is generally not. There are some specific exceptions, but new life rules exist specifically so antags can kill people to evade detection without the need for round removal
