Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!): Oh it was very hard to choose which one; I have a character named Junichi "Jimmy" Ono, a very very dear OC of mine! The setting he's from is a prohibition era setting, where he's a second generation Japanese immigrant after his parents migrated to replace the Chinese work force that was being pushed out due to rising fears of Communism in the US, as was common during the tail end of the 19th century. He grew up in a lower income neighborhood while his parents were factory workers, and spent a lot of time associating with a rough sort of crowd which led to him becoming part of a street gang at a young age. They were disorganized, general troublemakers, just delinquent types who would occasionally shakedown passersby, hotwire cars and drag race, but despite this he was always very gracious to his parents as he cared for them very deeply.
When he got older, his parents were fired from the factory they worked at and turned to opening a tailor shop where he sometimes helped out, but most of his time was spent at bars and jazz clubs pickpocketing and hustling to help his family get by. A common practice of his was pool sharking, which is how he met the man who would later become his boss, the newly appointed Don of an affluent crime family. After trying and failing to scam the Don, and sufficiently holding his own in a fight against him (primarily by making use of his smaller stature and light footwork to dodge attacks rather than face him head on), Jimmy was offered a place in the Family, which he gladly accepted.
Unwilling to admit to his parents that he was turning to a life of crime, he told them that he was offered a well-paying job in the city, and would write them often as well as send home money. Needless to say they were quite proud of their son, and he left home with his head held high.
Now, he's the getaway driver for the biggest crime family in the city; while he does sometimes feel guilt for lying to his parents, he lets that guilt ebb away when he reminds himself that the money he makes will ensure that they'll live comfortably for the rest of their lives. They don't need to know the danger he puts himself in regularly, he loves the adrenaline rush.
