What in Tartarus is a ship of Theseus!?
The best way to describe Chrissy is "a paradox".
How else can you talk about someone who should, for all intents and purposes, not exist?
Around 7 months ago, a small Nanotrasen winter resort reported a terrorist attack. The local café exploded, harming multiple patrons. The one at the center of the explosion was a vulpkanin named Chris Talisman. The technical assistant was quickly rushed into the medical bay, covered in 3rd degree burns and with dozens upon dozens of shards of glass embedded in his flesh.
What no one knew was the reason for the explosion. You see, according to Newton's second law of motion, force is equal to mass times acceleration. When a spell, something that has next to zero mass, accelerates for what equals hundreds of light years, it achieves close to light speed.
You may be confused then. What was that spell? Well, it's quite simple. A body swap hex, one made by one Chrysalis, a self-described "changeling queen".
Of course, someone coming from a medieval society reliant on magic had a hard time adjusting to a space station. The major changes in biology, and needing to learn a new language didn't help either.
Nanotrasen originally considered it a case of brain damage. A therapist was assigned to Chrissy, who alongside the adoptive father of her assumed identity, George Talisman, decided to try to help her recover.
Over time, many discoveries were made. While George remains ignorant, the higher ups have decided to exploit Chrissy's newfound abilities.
Supposed magic, a new, foreign symbiotic species in her blood, and especially her ability to retain certains skills and memories in-between clones have made her a disposable yet valuable asset.
At present time, Chrissy is registered as "Project Vesalipolis", under the guidance of the Intelligence Officer Max Miller. To the general public, it is presented as a merch line, selling plushies and producing TV shows. The truth is quite different.
Thousands of Chrissy Talisman clones are stored in cryo pods, ready to be sent to the most endangered places of interest. They have no salary, and frequently experience flaws made from budget cuts made in the production process.
In the meantime, the R&D division is hard at work, trying to extract information and recreate the unusual abilities of the vulp. Per Nanotrasen law, most of the assigned researchers would be put to death row multiple times over for what they have been ordered to do.
The 134cm (4'8") vulpkanin is a bully. A tormentor that hates how she looks. A moron that keeps covering her body in airlock paint, trying to get at least a piece of her old life back. An idiot that cannot name a singular friend in her life. An individual that overcompensates her weakness by lashing out at everyone. But as the old saying goes... Hurt people hurt people.
