Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
Rex Flamechaser is a mothperson botanist I've been developing recently. They come from a lonely background. Not necessarily out of hurt or bitterness toward people, but because they found a deeper connection with plants and animals than they typically did with people.
I wanted to avoid the usual loner stereotypes: the 'I hate people' recluse or the 'I was wronged and now I struggle to connect' type — no shade to either. Rex is neither, and I'm working to make that intentional. They're confident in who they are, genuinely value life in all its glory, and find real wonder and beauty in nature and their craft. It's less that people are a bother and more that, given the choice, Rex will drift toward a greenhouse over a crowd.
My ultimate goal with this character is to understand just how deeply a person with this mindset can go, especially on a station that can become chaotic and the same plants and animals they value seek to kill them. The character is still developing, but I'd like to build on them with a community that values meaningful, quality interactions.
What made you join Funky Station?: I heard you guys were a genuinely great role-play community, and I was looking for something that's a step up from typical low-RP communities. I used to play SS13, and I enjoy playing Medium and High RP servers because of the community and people that I meet on station. There was a lot of great characters, and great interactions and I'm hoping I could contribute this with a community myself.
