Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
I tend to play many different characters, and shift between them depending on how I feel in the moment. One of my characters is Gore Vandal! To heavily summarize: Gore was born on a hell/death world, akin to Mad Max. He was sold into slavery at a young age, and scraped by with the skin of his teeth and the bond of his slavekin, learning to live rather than simply survive, and mourning those who would be struck down. Eventually, a USMC Relief Corp vessel (assigned to travel to hell worlds and "save" the natives) descended on the colony, and in the chaos of the subsequent rebellion and combat of the city against the USMC, Gore managed to slip away on a running-on-fumes buggy. As he watched the fires of thermite rain over his past, and after much, much self-debate, he decided that wherever the colossal refugee processing ship would take him would give him the best chance at... Well, life. What followed was the nightmarish experience of government-corporate processing, and the everpresent fate of being reduced to a number, grimly akin to his previous servitude ![]()
These days, Gore isn't much of a talker. The scars that line him are the only thing which stalks him from his past, a fact he's both thankful that it is left behind, yet hateful that it is all he truly has left. He looks strange, wired and frazzled, with a voice of constant monotone. Whether or not he truly wants to live is up for debate, but despite all that he is not, he is horrifically aware that what he has now is what his brothers-in-chains only ever dreamt of, something which terrifies him more than any whip or pain.
What made you join Funky Station?:
I've been on the hunt for a server in which I feel like I can truly play a character. Many-a-time have I felt out of place for leaning into a character, or pushed aside for leaning into a story. Truthfully, the videos of ItsMaitake are what pushed me towards Funky! Of course, the storytelling in those videos goes beyond just the server, but I always appreciated how crew seem to play into various aspects of it, fulfilling what could be.
Whether or not Funky truly is the server I hope it is, I very much would like to give it a try and find out : )
