Briefly describe the background and/or personality of a character you enjoy playing (Can be SS14, DND, or a character you just made up!):
In SS14 there are a few characters and archetypes I like to play based on the role. I generally like to play fairly normal characters and be the comedic foil to other outlandish characters.
Hank: An older competent space station engineer. Hank has 2 adult children and an ex-wife. Having nothing tying him down he took a new position on a station in deep space hoping to get away from it all and build a new life. Outwardly Hank constantly complains about his back, being old, having to do work in general, but he always works hard since work is the only thing he has left. He is kind to his co-workers within engineering, hoping to set a good example for the youngsters.
Honk: An alternate timeline Hank where instead of studying engineering he went to clown college. His performances and pranks never escalate further than mere shenanigans, but its clear there is a sad old man behind the mask.
Chloe: A hard hitting space station reporter, always on the beat, always looking for the next story, always reporting any arrest as unlawful despite the crimes and evidence. She keeps a close eye on any security officer she sees and documents any infraction however minor it seems. Favorite bit: “Exclusive interview with mime” followed by a page of ellipses.
A very abridged backstory of my favorite DnD character to play.
Born to a minotaur tribe, Toonkus had a fondness for reading, flowers, and cleanliness. As a child Toonkus found himself lost in the woods far from his barbarian village and was eventually adopted into an affluent elven family. As a young adult he sets out as an adventurer to “play poor” to see how the other half lives. He poorly hides his noble upbringing and constantly lies about being an expert adventurer despite his lack of any practical skills. He relies mostly on his intimidating frame but is often forced to back down whenever he is met with someone with real combat experience. Main gimmicks are: He can read and is very proud of this but lacks the intelligence to actually comprehend anything deeper than story books. As a barbarian he will throw tantrums (rage) like a spoiled brat if his person is soiled (germaphobe) or things don’t go his way.
What made you join Funky Station?:
I have 650 hours across the wizden servers but have never applied to the other whitelist servers due to the very minor barrier to entry. With everything going on with wizden Im looking for a new home and funky has a lot of features that I want to play with!
