Question about Powergaming with Frail + Healium internals

Post by RedaREDACTED »

I do want some feedback on the changes I made to my character "Ruby Redd" when I "promoted" her from secoff to HOS.
I added a small storyline, but I also don't want to make her a "main character syndrome"

In my playing of secoff, I would often nag Genetics or Medical to give Ruby a "upgrade" (usually nagging for carp lungs so that I could survive spacing)

Now, as HOS, I have given her the "frail" trait which she did not have before, and RP that she has permanent lung damage from this (characterized by coughing & blood as emotes)

I had my first shift as HOS, and I presented this condition as an occasional cough, and "spitting up a glob of blood" during my first brief.

Additionally, to counteract this frail trait, Ruby (has / may) ask Atmos for a custom internals tank with helium mixed with ox, but not roundstart; more as something I would only request if we go blue or red and I expect I may have to enter combat myself.

The goal here is to use the frail trait as a reason to delegate, rather than actively pursue combat, and only lean on something like that situationally rather than as a standard buff.

I want some feedback on this, and see people's opinions if this is "too much"? Or if I could do it different/ better.

Totally don't want to "powergame" here, and I fully submit to admin discretion

This is basically textbook powergaming, I would advise not doing this in the future.

I would suggest not asking for special mixes, and not using traits as an excuse to do so even on blue or red.

Realistically, despite most HOS not playing like such, you shouldn't be frontlining as HOS. You should be commanding your secoffs and cadets in what to do and sending them in first with you as a last resort. You're a general, even if you have better weapons and gear, you are important and should be making sure you're alive as much as possible.

Not really sure how to give feedback on this, as it's really just overall don't look to powergame. Play reactively, not setting yourself up to be able to possibly handle a threat you shouldn't expect to show up on a station.

Acknowledged and understood, I'm glad I asked before it got out of hand.

The carp lungs were a stupid thing I did as a secoff, and that's definitely not continuing.

The additional advisement to not ask for special mixes, is also acknowledged and will not continue.

This is all good and healthy for me to learn and adapt. and I will be keeping the frail trait (as I feel like this is the healthy side of this RP), and working on properly delegating as HOS.

Thank you for your ruling, and I apologize for attempting to stretch my allowances.
