The culture surrounding medical

Post by Nazariel »

I've talked about this with several people in the discord who share a similar opinion, but I personnally am not a fan of the whole "treating medbay as a loading screen" culture (as in, stuff like wordlessly entering medbay, laying down to a bed and basically alt-tab'ing until you're fully healed)

I obviously have NOTHING personnal against people who do that, after all we all just want to play the video game, but I just think medbay should be treated as more than that. So I just want to see you guys' opinions on this, if you do think I'm wrong and that it's good that medbay is just that, if you guys do anything as doctor/CMO to make it more interesting/engaging for both patient and doctor (Personnally I've always tried to force conversation with my patients, even just a "So what happened to you?" can go a long way. And also I will make people file paperwork when they get injured in greenshifts :godo: )

I've talked about this with several people who share a similar opinion, but I personnally am not a fan of the whole "treating medbay as a inconvenience" culture (as in, stuff like wordlessly entering medbay, laying down to a bed and saying nothing until you're fully healed)

I obviously have NOTHING personnal against people who do that, after all we all just want to do our jobs, but I just think medbay should be treated as more than that. And also I will make people file paperwork when they get injured on calmer days :godo: )

It's weird, right? I swear, people think that the Medical Doctors are robots... I personally try to strike up a conversation any time I'm unfortunate enough to have to head over there. As a Chef once, I brought over some food and drinks, and they were quite receptive. It's not hard to feel bad for the overworked Medics who only get a "Thanks."

Of course, it's not all on the person going into the Medical Bay, I think taking your time to do a proper physical checkup afterwards would be a good idea. Doesn't mean that it's okay to act like you're the one being inconvenienced by having to drag yourself (or being dragged) to Medical! Hopefully people start to catch on that it's very disheartening to put a lot of effort into saving someone's life, only to be treated like a machine.
